Budgie Rustler Report 27 Dec 2012 18:28

I just love GR`s sense of humour. :-D :-D :-D

Start off with ...

Service Unavailable

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

maggiewinchester Report 27 Dec 2012 18:52

I've been trying to edit my tree - with no luck. :-S

Budgie Rustler

Budgie Rustler Report 27 Dec 2012 20:13

I`ve just managed to get in using "Compatibility View"

Edit.... its gone again...the "503 error fairy" is back again :-P :-P :-P

Budgie Rustler Report 27 Dec 2012 20:45

I have found, that playing around with the Compatibility View, will bring the tree up to a reasonable working situation.

(But who wants to keep doing that) :-(

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 27 Dec 2012 22:18

My membership is due on the 8 th of January I wonder if GR will postpone my renewal until their services are working again

GinN Report 27 Dec 2012 22:30

We shouldn't have to do all this playing about to access our trees - it's bl**dy ridiculous! :-S

jax Report 27 Dec 2012 22:48

Were you on the cheaper rate of subs Tenerife Sun?

I cant see many people being prepared to put up with this, if they now have to pay the full price for standard membership

Nyx Report 27 Dec 2012 22:52

From the FB page a few minutes ago

"Hi everyone, we're sorry that you have been having problems with the tree again tonight. I have had a look and after refreshing my homepage the tree did load. However, we have let our developers know and we will make sure this is fixed as soon possible. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Gail Report 27 Dec 2012 22:53

Agree - service has been very sporadic this past week.

LadyScozz Report 27 Dec 2012 22:58

On the Facebook page? Typical.

Messages should be on the GR site FIRST!!

I'm getting so fed up with this. The site doesn't work, paying members are ignored, they pay attention to Facebook...... and now they want to increase the subs for long-standing members.

Are they they same long-standing members that GR brag about? You know, the ones mentioned on the Home Page....... "Our members are always happy to help".

GR should know who these helpers are, maybe a big reduction in fees for them would be nice.

I've had a reduced fee for years, but if GR now want me to pay full price, I'm out of here.

George Report 27 Dec 2012 22:59

Why post of face book, just shows the contempt that GR have towards their members. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

LadyScozz Report 27 Dec 2012 23:09

I just looked at Announcements.

Message HEADING: Tree Problems Thursday 27 December

Message: Hi everyone, we are really sorry but there seem to be some intermittent problems with the tree again. We will try and fix this as soon as we can.

The DATE on the message is 21 December

jax Report 27 Dec 2012 23:20

Why would anybody who only uses the tree on here think to look for the announcements board??

Even I never look on there unless I am directed

I take it there is'nt anything on the Home page.....not that I ever see that page either, but it would be the first place I looked if I was a newbie and having problems with the tree

JoyDean Report 27 Dec 2012 23:24

The announcement started on 21st December, then was changed to 23rd; since the comments on the facebook page, it has changed to 27th this evening.

maggiewinchester Report 27 Dec 2012 23:40

Huh! How GR underestimate the forensic powers of genealogists :-P

Well done Sherlock Joy :-D

Soooo, there's been a problem since 21st.

...and when did they post their 'Start your family tree week' thread?

...would anyone like a chocolate? I haven't got any chocolates, just wondered if you'd like one?? :-S

LadyScozz Report 28 Dec 2012 04:22

I'm not good with maths

But if something is dated 21st and the heading says 27th, even I can work out that something is very smelly :-(

Insulting, and typical.

wisechild Report 28 Dec 2012 08:44

Personally I´m sick to death of Genes & their total disregard for their members.
How many times do they want telling that info which affects Genes members should be posted on the Genes site & not on Facebook, especially considering that many of us are not Facebook members & have no wish to be.
The site has only operated sporadically now for over 18 months.
Gene´s solution?
Double the basic membership fee.
Not me mate. I´m off as soon as my sub runs out.

OneFootInTheGrave Report 28 Dec 2012 08:58

I now have access to my tree but for how long is another question :-(

However I still cannot export my tree, I have been trying to do this since yesterday, just tried again a few minutes ago and still showing as:-

"Your tree is currently being processed. Please wait until your tree returns to the ready state before exporting another GEDCOM file" and when I click on refresh status all it shows is "Export Pending"

Seems when the tree problem occurred yesterday this part of the system got locked and someone needs to get their finger out and fix it.

I have made notes of the contents of all the posts relating to the totally farcical series of events relating the tree issue and I will be advising Brightsolid of these as I think heads should roll.

I am a pensioner who lives on his own and is more or less housebound and I fill a lot of my time by working on my tree, so I would just like to say to the powers that be at Genes Reunited - Thank You For Spoiling My Christmas Week :-(

LadyScozz Report 28 Dec 2012 10:32

Does anyone have an email address for Bright Solid?

I'm not spending the postage to send a letter from Australia (blame my Scottish genes).

This site used to be good, before all the "improvements" that most of us don't want or use

I've said it before & I'll say it again. OH & I worked for nearly 10 years for companies all over the world, on their computer systems. If we had the GR attitude to customers, we would have been our on our ears very quickly!

They have ONE system to take care of. Do they do it? NO!!!!!!

I've been a member for over 7 years, and cannot understand why they cannot get what should be a simple program to work!!!!!!!!!!
