Glad you are feeling better Brian, hope the rest of the family get / stay well. Seem to be on the mend myself, haven't wheezed at night for three nights now, so fingers crossed, still got a good old cough at times though. M

Well, daughter got over the D & V without giving it to the rest of us.
The antibiotics seem to have got my sinuses back to more or less normal.
But OH went back to the docs on Monday with her cough as her peak flow had also started to go downhill and is on another course of antibiotics, staying in an even temperature As far as possible and drinking extra (no, not alcohol!).

It just seems to go on and on Ronald. People keep saying to me " You aren't STILL coughing are you ? " What can I reply except "Yes, and I am supposed to be better !"

I can feel that I am in for another really noisy one tonight., revving up already. M

Oh Brian, I know it is difficult but try and give your daughter a wide berth ! Norovirus is the last thing you need after this horrible coughy cold thing, I should know !

Still the plus side of it was I lost a nice bit of weight without trying in time for Christmas.

I am going back to the doc on Tuesday, if I spend one more night wheezing and purring I shall top myself, that is if my husband doesn't do it first. Doctor just keeps saying it takes a long time to go, but nearly three months ?????

Hope you are on the mend, I have been wondering how you were. M

Flippin' heck, you don't do things by halves, do you Brian?

Hope you can stave off the novovirus and start to feel better as the antib's work, altho it's usually when you are low that you pick up all sorts of things.

Hope the rest of the family are soon fighting fit as well, maybe you need to stay in quarantine and have a big X on the front door to warn people off lol

Take care

I finally gave in and went to the docs on Thursday as the mucus colour was getting darker.
A week of antibiotics should knock it out.
My daughter who still lives at home went down with the norovirus bug yesterday evening, so now trying to avoid that.

if you can take Sudafed this helps with the pressure pain of Sinusitis

My sinus's flared up for a few days around the 8th Dec. (work nights out) ended up drinking mineral water as I started feeling so rough.

Within a week I was coughing & after an awful Xmas of feeling really ill I got antibiotics for Laryngitis & upper respiratory tract infection from docs on Thursday.

If you are prone to chest infections then get yourself to the doc. They will give you antibiotics if they think you need them. If not you will have your mind put at rest. Best to go tomorrow or your GP will be closed for a few days what with new year.

hope you both feel better soon x

Try Smelling Salts, they should clear your nasal passages.

For sore throats I use Dequacaine Lozenges and have used them for years.

Also they get rid of germs ..
If you do buy them read the back of the packet.

I've just had a session of menthol crystals which has helped a bit.
(Somehow we have managed to accumulate four lots of menthol crystals, three of which are unopened).
I'll see how it goes, but I believe that the yellow colour of the mucus does indicate an infection.
Might see if we have some Sudafed in stock.

Go and get it sorted early Brian. I am still coughing and choking and it is ten weeks or more later. Whether if I had seen the doctor earlier or not, it might have gone quicker, but I dare say she would have still given me the antibiotics that nearly killed me and we would have still all gone down with the Norovirus.

It isn't on my chest and the sinus bit cleared but it is the stupid back of throat/ nose wheezing purring that drives me mad and just won't go away. Some nights it sounds like I am singing and my husband thought I was talking on the phone the other night.

Lets hope we all have a happy and healthy 2013. Some sunshine before we all develop webbed feet would be nice. M

Hi Brian ,a blocked sinus is no way saying you will get a chest infection,If you have any vick in the house? a towel ,a bowl of hot water, with a teaspoon of vick in should clear it up for you if done a couple of times during the day,and there are plenty of cures you can buy for sinusitis without bothering a doctor.the Chemist will be able to subscribe something for you.
The last time i had this trouble ,i thought the top of my head was going to blow off ,but id did respond to vick and a couple of codeine .Fred.

OH has had a sinus/ear/throat infection plus a bit on her chest (only 1 1/2 lungs for the last fortnight and is on antibiotics.
I've now got the sinus part with a headache, so am thinking about going to the emergency doctor later or else my GP tomorrow before it goes to my chest as well.
I've got to ring for a wedding later, so I can't let the bride down.
Not a good way to end the year and start a new !
