Only had to read Rollo's post of the poem, and feel exactly the same as Bob.

Great film and I've watched it many times.

The Life That I Have was an original poem, composed on Christmas Eve 1943 and written by Leo Marks in memory of his girlfriend.

A beautiful moving poem Paula

Loved that film. And the poem.

There will be a rare showing of the movie "Carve her Name with Pride" on BBC4 this evening at 9pm. Find a disk and make a recording.

The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours.

The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause.

For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.
