Isn't it uncanny what women remember.

When my son was about 8 he went on a football fortnight with his school, his clothes had his name tag sewn in anyway, but for his boots and shoes I used a soldering iron to melt his name in those. :-D

The coloured thread to identify items reminds me that way back in 1960s when I went away to college, I knew that laundry drying facilities were shared in each hostel.
I diligently sewed a green cross on all my M&S underwear having guessed correctly that most girls used that shop in those days.

Why do we need to remember such things...?

Often when a particular date comes round in the calendar, I will say to myself... "Oh, Carol's birthday today "... Bearing in mind I haven't seen her since 1950s, why do I still think of this?

Not just women. There is a wedding photo with three boys sitting cross legged at the front in short trousers.

One is my dad, another is his younger brother Bill who would have turned ninety-two yesterday and there is another boy.Dad couldn't tell me what the boy's name was but he did get mustard on my dad's sleeve!

We were looking through photos taken 40 years ago and my daughter said she liked the dress I was wearing. I was able to tell her exactly where I bought it and how much I paid for it :-)

Goodness knows why, but anyway we have 1 pillow case left from a duvet set bought 34 years ago, it's yellow and I had sewn red thread on the overlap bit cos my sister in law whom we lived with at the time had the same that way we knew which was ours.
Why do we remember such trivia?
