nor me Merlin :-(

Island i would take anybody in who was suffering even if i didnt know then

Island Report 17 Jan 2013 14:59

Merlin, the women stay because their self esteem is so low due to the treatment from their men. They just don't have the will or fight to stand up for themselves and often have nowhere to go.
Very sad.

Merlin Report 17 Jan 2013 14:46

Sadly Joy it still is in some places :-| what I can never understand is Why some Women tend to stay with the men who beat them up :-(

JoyBoroAngel Report 17 Jan 2013 14:32

it was common practice to beat your wife on a friday night
even not to many moons ago
but not in my family

some divorce cases are awful to read :-(

Susan10146857 Report 17 Jan 2013 14:26

Lol Joy

There was one in ours and the case is still cited today for reference. The last time I saw it was in a book called Violence and the family......The husband although well to do was a right so and so......Cuthbert Shaftoe was his name.

I have just read a few and there weren't half some nasty rotters about...interesting reading though.

JoyBoroAngel Report 17 Jan 2013 14:15
