Well I mustn't grumble, won the lottery twice this week, a tenner and £9.60 or something similar on the Euromillions! Maybe tonight will be the big one eh?

I watched one the other day and the couple had both just left the army as officers with massive lump sums. They had lived in subsidised army housing for 30 years and also had a lot of savings.

I know of a local bobby who was able to buy a beautiful home in Cornwall when he retired for similar reasons.

They can't get me out of the dentists. Once I start looking at houses in Country Life, I can't stop. Camomile lawns, views across the bay, an arboretum, a lake, a wooded path. Still, theres always Kew Gardens and Bodnant. :-) And could we afford the gardening staff?

Ah no, it's not so much the houses I yearn after, it's the gardens...the ones with walled 'secret gardens', and wisteria that has beem there for decades...... :-) ( and indoors, the rooms with fitted bookcases :-) )

£750k ? Easy. Start a web site and then double the fees. Few of the members would ever notice and would just allow their bank accounts to be debited automatically. And voila - you have that sort of cash to appear on "Escape to the Country".

Work hard and take risks? That is the recipe for appearing on Jeremy Kyle. :-)

If you live in a flat anywhere in London you do not want to be on the ground floor, far too easy to be broken into.

And all the flats they looked at were very near to parks.

The Charlton flat was just a 3 minute walk from Charlton House, a fantastic place for the local community with a tea room and loads of things going on and the grounds are lovely and there is a lido and horse/pony rides as well.

Sometimes people move from London and areas where their houses have shot up in value so they have made a killing when they move away from the capital. Some people must be good at saving or have high paying jobs from a young age, or have a bit of luck from a legacy or something.

I love watching these programmes but would love to see more accessibly priced houses for a change.

I watched Location, Location the other evening and there was one couple, two women in a civil partnership, who wanted to start a family but they were looking at apartments/flats above the ground floor. Fine when the baby is small but not so good when the baby wants to be outside - it's not always convenient to take a child to a park or play area. Also they were tight on budget so didn't have any furniture etc, not really the strongest grounds to start a family I would have thought. I couldn't understand why Kirsty or Phil didn't discuss with them the merits of a ground floor property or even a small house, as the other young woman chose.

Me? I just dream of that big lottery win, I saw a house I have admired for ages, for sale recently at just under half a million pounds, but sadly the lottery win didn't happen for me and it's sold now :>((

A young couple moved in next to us in Northants. Paid cash for house (about 550k). In that case her father was a farmer who had just retired and developed a golf course on his land. So 550k for his children was chicken feed:-S :-S

As my gran used to say "Never love for money, but always love where money is". Now if you had only landed Prince Andrew all those years ago :-D ;-)

My OH lived in a large house in N Wales when we were courting and parents appeared to live quite well. How was I to know the large house was rented?

....hmmmm have wondered that myself unless someone of an older generation has popped their clogs perhaps-j

I only ask because I am watching 'Escape to the country' on tv, and , as I often do, I am pondering on how the people have that much to spend :-) up to about £350/ 400k I can envisage but It just seems such a huge amount to have made ( £500 to 750k..let alone more as it sometimes is) uness one is a lottery winner :-)
