Any chips in a brick wall? any 'throw up your hands in despair or delight' moments? Any trails you are following having found new records? Or alternatively have you given up entirely?

Funnily enough Rose I was just doing some online whilst watching the rugby.
I've actually reached the point again when I have to get off my butt and go to some records offices :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Almost given up, Rose. Hated new tree format and it put me off and haven't done any since July.

The thread about canal people that has just started has awoken a flicker of interest. Think I will get back to it this Autumn :-D

I do not do my own very often...other peoples are much more interesting.

Find ancestors board is so slow these days it is hardly worth continuing on here...but I might miss something if I go :-D

I am intending to go and look at the outward passsenger lists a bit more, and did have what I thought could be a flash of inspiration the other day about a missing baptism ( Ireland) but it didn't help.

Jax FA is so much quieter than it used to be :-(

I run 10 trees in total, not all mine...lolol so when I get stuck I'll hop onto another tree for a week or two. Then I have quite a few branches that belong to other people that I check on each month.

A bit half hearted but usually look up one or two things a day. Like Jax often do trees for friends.

Yes! Working on my own tree all the time. Always something else to find. Have been working for weeks with the Warks Electoral roles on Ancestry. I've hundreds in my tree from Birmingham.

Dear Rambles and all

Hello

I discovered some new school records for my great-grandparents
and have also followed up on the electoral roll.

So able now to locate where they lived on the Godfrey OS maps.

Reasonable so far.

Good luck to fellow researchers.

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth, EOS

Just tinkering round the edges at the moment but my paternal ancestors came from Devon and I know there is a lot of stuff in Devon Record Office. AND later in the year OH and I are being treated by a relative and partner to a week in Devon as a Golden Wedding present. The relative and I are planning some time in Devon Record Office so I'll probably come back all enthusiastic again. Isn't that a great present?

For many years I have been waiting for evidence to link in my possible 3 x great grandfather, Thomas, who is probably the father of my 2 x great grandfather Henry.
Surname is right, they were both blacksmiths, Thomas lived at one time in the village where Henry states on census that he was born BUT...... where is the evidence.
Henry married too early in 1837 for his father's name to appear on a certificate and Thomas died before 1851, so I don't know where he was born.

I don't know where to look for a link, so most weeks I spend more time passing on links to a friend doing a one-name study when I see new sites or links posted on the boards.

One day I'll be brave enough to tackle my JONES in the Southampton area..... I've got George JONES a labourer, so that should be easy then...Lol

Im still climbing my tree slowly but surely, with thanks to some lovley people on here and also a long lost family member whom is on here too.....

I was looking for her death records when all a while she was on here alive and well lol, ~~~~~ Marl, we had both in our poccession some newspaper cuttings from wayback on the same relative, but as some say never always believe what the papers say.....and it has worked to our advantage...... :-)...

Sometimes its nice to have a break in my case a very long break and then continue the quest and its also lovley to know that help is out there and also living rellys now and again :-) <3 <3

Doing my research everyday and it gets so annoying when I can't people's deaths..or if they remarried.

All mine in Derbyshire or Sheffield.

Must keep digging and may get somewhere in the end.
