I do hope all goes well & the op is a success, with young children it will be hard for her not to be tempted to lift them for 6 weeks, but as she has a caring partner, parents & parents in law to keep an eye on her, hopefully she can be kept from doing this.

{{{Hug}}} for Mum

I know any op on our children is worrying but hopefully this one will stop the pain.

Thankyou Ann. Her children are 2 and 5. The 5 year old will be no trouble, in fact she will probably be a great help to her. Unfortunately, her 2 yr old son was diagnosed autistic a few months ago, having developed as he should, in every way, until 18 months. Sadly, he has changed and become quite hard work.

Fortunately, my daughter has a wonderful and supportive husband and he is taking a couple of weeks off work. Also, of course, there are 2 sets of grandparents to help when required :-)

Best wishes to your daughter Wend. Hope all goes well. So worrying for us Mums I know. You don't say how young her children are, but if toddler age it sounds as if she is going to have to remember not to bend down to them or lift them so I hope she has some help. Sometimes the recovery post op is more frustrating than the op. But I am sure it will all be worth it if it cures the pain for her. <3

Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery,Wend, and hoping all goes well. My sister in law had this op a few years back and it was a great success. BC XX

Hi Wend,

My son had this sort of operation done about 6-7 years ago. It worked a treat and relieved him of the pain he had been suffering.

I hope it all works out well for your daughter and send my very best wishes to her and her family.

Wendy I hope your daughters operation is a great success. Someone I know has just had the same operation done and is now recovering. I had not heard of it until she said about it. It must be difficult for your daughter with 2 small children.
My own daughter who has 3 children is in great pain with a cyst on her spine and on so much medication.
Please let us know how your daughter is when you can.
Thinking of you all. x

So long as she does as she's told after (no bending & lifting for six weeks in my case) she'll be fine. I was home in 3 days. It's really not half as bad as it sounds Wend :-)

I did quite a lot of research into this operation and the reviews are varied,

I don't want to alarm you but being honest with my research,

For the people it worked for said it was fantastic, Others said it made no difference and the rest where left with bigger problems than before I also asked my doctor as i have had the same problem for years and both my doctor and the doctor who i saw when i did my ATOS assessment advised against it for pretty much the same reasons

My ex wife a size 10 and weighing 8 and a half stone had it done she still has the back pain as before and the medication has left her putting weight on, She has gone up to 15 stone in 12 months, Not a clue what size she is now and her doctor is very worried that she may end up with diabetes and heart disease

Edit, my post refers to lower back, specifically L5 S1 "Edited"

Hope it turns out well for her

Thankyou Rose :-)

Trouble is, she has 2 small children to look after, so it's going to be hard for her.
