Shoes or gloves on a table is considered unlucky because back in the day when someone was "laid out" at home (usually on the table!) the last things to be put on were shoes & gloves. |

We have the “give a coin if you receive a knife or it will sever the friendship“, thinking is you are not giving, the recipient is buying the knife (some people give a coin as part of the gift so it can be returned) also read recently that knives should not be given as wedding gifts as the marriage will fail. |

My wife was buying an umbrella a few years ago, and wanted to open it up in the shop. The sales assistant had to leave the shop while she did that. :-) |
