Wednesday BBC1 9PM. might be interesting

"Comedian and actor Eddie Izzard embarks on a unique, epic and personal journey using his own DNA to trace the migration of his ancestors out of Africa and into Europe over almost 200,000 years. A simple saliva swab and the latest cutting-edge DNA science help Eddie explore the secrets of his genetic history. In this first film Eddie explores his mum's line over the last 10,000 generations, tracing her ancestral route across 10,000 miles all the way back home to Britain.

Along the way he meets some of his modern DNA cousins, from the African bush to the shores of the Red Sea, as he discovers how humans populated the globe, why he has blue eyes and how the Izzards ended up in Europe"

I'll definitely be watching this Rose :-) should imagine it'll be very interesting, and would think many folk would love to have the chance to follow this journey.

I love Eddie Izzard and his approach to life and always like to read of his many marathon runs. :-D

Thank you Rose.
I'm interested in DNA testing for tracing ancestors but don't really understand results so hopefully there may be some explanations in the programme. :-S :-S :-S
Take care

I have not read the bible for over sixty years.
So how does Eddie's journey compare?

Rambling

Rambling Report 21 Feb 2013 12:29

Hi Thelma, I suppose that's more a question for those who know the bible better than I do to answer.

But the science of DNA showed we do all come from 'Eve', as in the first woman who was a recogniseable 'ancestor', in Africa and whose 'offspring' migrated East, West and North.

I found last nights programme truly fascinating - Eddie is a great person for this as he has so side to him and engages with all he meets and they all seemed to appreciate his honesty.

What a shame he could not get into Aden.

I think Eddie is a great person and someone who I deply admire for his go to attitude - he never baulks from trying anything. Just think of the marathons he ran for Red Nose day 2 years ago.

Why has he never been given an MBE etc.

I really enjoyed it too. That one woman in Africa must have been kept pretty busy then,!

Still cant pooh pooh the idea that we evolved from apes,

Its on again tonight and will definitely be watching.
