I didn't see too many pink shirts around ........... but then I only went to the local coffee shop.


I did notice one of the news anchor on TV wearing a pink tie, one of the women on the same news show wearing a pink top ............. and mention near the top of the news hour of "Pink Day", along with video coverage.

Was out & about earlier this morning & majority of folk are wearing their "pink" in support, including our 2 grand girls & myself. All schools etc are involved & have their day planned with various events, including child developement centre, which our 2 little ones attend.

there is still some bullying occasionally on GR Boards, including, so I have been told, by pm. Always has been, I think. And people have left because they have been sickened by seeing it happen.

Hopefully, it will become less in time.

There is of course much, much more on FB, Twitter, etc.



In fact, we have this past weekend had an extremely promising young (22) female tennis star retire (!) from pro tennis.

She had reached # 38 in the rankings at the end of 2011, and then had to take leave last year for a few months to cope with major depression caused partly by the bullying she got on Twitter

If you can believe it ................... she won when some gamblers had bet on her to lose, so they said extremely nasty things on her Twitter account.

She came back late last season, but no longer had the "fire" to continue.


Unfortunately, like most youngsters these days, she watched Twitter etc constantly.


She has now cancelled all such accounts, and is determined to recover ........................ but I doubt whether she will return to tennis, and the public life.

I had forgotten that that was how it started, and why pink was chosen.

It was huge news here in Canada at the time.




OH has worn pink, or pinkish coloured, shirts for many years!

He had / has no concerns about it .................... and has never received any bullying


I think the first one he had was in the 1970s ................ he wore it with a white tie .......... which turned out to be an absolute magnet for spaghetti sauce :-D :-D

Come to think of it the GRU boards used to be Bully HQ for years though they seem mostly to have pushed off to richer pastures (FB, Twitter ? ). Maybe GRU should make the background pink for the day, 2 mins of coding lol.

My OH got bullied at work so I met the miscreant after work in the car park.
I am 2m high and weigh 100kg.
Problem sorted.

fwiw I quite often wear a pink shirt - I like the color.

The problem with bullies is that they are basically mad so being "against bullying" will not usually change much. imho bullying behaviour in young children at school should be picked up and sorted at an early stage. It would save the social services & police no end of time and money later. Not to mention the army.

Sometimes bullies get into high places eg no.10, NHS usually by bullying. They get there because most people want an easy life, keep their job and are not very brave. So bullies prosper and they always will.

Until somebody takes them down.

Its a great idea, anything that helps raise awareness has got to be good.

we also have a Wear Pink Day for breast cancer, but it is much later in the year .......... October or November, I think.

Then you are asked to wear anything pink ............. even shoe laces or dye your hair.


The anti-bullying one specifically says wear a pink shirt or top....
i think pink was chosen because the initial calls were to stamp out bullying of girls by boys ............ so pink means supporting girls.


But it has spread to become much bigger than that, and to encompass ALL bullying, of males and females

We don't have that here, Sylvia, although the subject of bullying is very much in our faces all the time.We have no special day for it, but it is in the news constantly.
We do, however, have a similar pink day, but ours is for Breast Cancer - and many people wear pink or at least buy a pink ribbon buttonhole from sellers acting on behalf of the Breast Cancer Research charity.
