We went out last night.

At about 8pm the heel came off my shoe. I hadn't noticed when I put them on that the heels were crumbling!

Today's job........ look at all the shoes I threw into two baskets, see how many of them have water damage!

Goodbye suede ankle boots waaaaaaaaah

OH has been calling me Imelda, because I have so many shoes!

Many of them I haven't worn for years. OH thinks I'm crazy for keeping snow boots......... especially as we live in the sub-tropics! You never know, we might get a sudden cold snap, or decide to visit snow country (not likely).

Most of them survived the flood, but not my two favourite pairs of sandals.

It's Autumn here, and not quite sandal weather, so I hadn't looked at them for a few weeks.

I'm wondering if the sandals can be re-soled & new heels put on? Also wondering if they come under "contents" with the insurance?

I am so fed up, living in a tip.

It's worth a try Scozz. The insurance co might pay out for the repairs, or if not practical, new pairs. The trouble is that you'll never find any that are just the same as the old faithfulls :-(

I bought both pairs of sandals in a great shoe shop in Newcastle (NSW) when visiting relatives.

The shop had lots of good leather sandals, not just thong/flipflop styles.

There's been talk of a family reunion (maybe this year), and as most of us live on the east coast of Oz, from Melbourne to Bundaberg, Newcastle is in the middle! If the reunion takes place I'll be looking for that shop!

We don't have a shoe repair place in town, I'll have to ask if anyone knows a good one.

:-(

"Imelda" has 10 pairs of black shoes :-0 five with heels, and five flatties.....

and four pairs of black sandals

Update.

Finally, some work MIGHT be getting done.

The plasterer phoned me last week, said he could come next week, which day suits me.......

Me: Any day except Tuesday
Plasterer: OK, I can fit you in on Tuesday.
Me: No, I said ANY day but Tuesday, I will be out all afternoon.
Plasterer: Tuesday is the only day I have free, you can go out and I will lock up when I leave.
Me: hmmmmmmmm (while I'm thinking.......)
OK, what time Tuesday?
Plasterer: about 7 (laughs) if that's not too early
Me: OK, I'll see you at 7, but I must leave at 12.45
Plasterer: No problem, I should be finished by then.

Right.

I'll let you know.

Still waiting to hear from the other tradesmen...... the one who will clean the wall, the carpenter, the carpet fixer, the painter, the plumber etc etc etc Haven't seen the insurance assessor yet.

I am SO FED UP living in a tip.

It's now five weeks since the flood.

The plasterer came this morning to finish off.......... but he will have to come back, because things have shrunk since they dried out! He can't do anything else until he gets the OK from the building company he works for; their rep will be coming again on Tuesday (WHY do they all choose Tuesday??)

I haven't heard from any of the other tradesmen. Lucky them, having lots of work!

Poor you, Scozz, still in a state of flux as me mam used to say. You are right though, tradesmen seem to like Tuesdays or Thursdays for some unknown reason. Hope they put things back in order very soon. BC XX

update

now 27th May....... and someone is coming tomorrow, to remove the old vanity and install a new one!

We got a 'phone call at 3 this afternoon, and had to rush out and buy a new tap.

No idea when the plumber will turn up to install the tap.

There's light at the end of the tunnel............ I hope it's not a train.

:-D

Yay!

Two carpenters are here, taking the framework off cupboards & replacing it. A new vanity is waiting to be installed.

You won't believe this.........

We've been sleeping in separate rooms since Himself got pneumonia (he's still coughing like mad, and it's worse at night). Last night, just before midnight I heard a strange noise, thought it was raining........ nope, it was water rushing through the pipes........ I got up, wandered around......... opened the door of the downstairs bathroom and found a room full of steam and a wet floor! Another tap with those ****** flexible hoses!!! Woke Himself up, he went outside & turned off the water, and we spent the next hour mopping up the mess, thankfully it stayed in the bathroom, didn't get out to flood another room.

Who kicked my stars out of alignment?

Merlin Report 28 May 2013 14:05

Scozz, why don,t you have those small in line stop taps fitted to all your taps .switch off with a screwdriver individually, easy to fit and saves a lot of hassle if any problems.**M**.

LadyScozz Report 29 May 2013 02:19

Hi Merlin ~ the plumber should be here this week to install the new tap, so I'll ask him about that, thankyou.

The carpenters yesterday were so good! :-D

When they finished, they asked for a vacuum cleaner. They cleaned up all the mess they made, then they mopped the floor. That's a first for me, I'm impressed.
