channel 4 would be a serious look at how people are coping ( or not) on benefits.

But all it is doing is reinforcing the picture of feckless, ignorant, dishonest, benefit scroungers so beloved of the media .........words fail me, at a time when 'civilised' people are struggling, the best that a programme maker can come up with is this puerile rubbish concentrating on what I still believe is a minority.

i am so angry I don't even know why I am watching....except that I was hoping it might get better :-|

All people on benefits aren't like this, all teenagers aren't like these.....

I'm watching Skint, too. It's making folk heroes out of these dregs of society. They seem to revel in their lawless, ignorant ways. It's amazing to think that people really do live like this.

I watched it. Felt it was a terrible way to live and wondered if there could have been something to make things different/better for the people shown or is it just too late even for the new born baby.

You missed the bit where he put on tight pants to keep his...........................
I did cover my eyes at the revealing bit. Modest person that I am.

For some reason programme makers just love to show the feckless unemployed instead of those who are genuinely looking for work ( which is the majority )
but as that does not make good telly, they will continue to do the cheap nasty tv which enrages Middle England and just perpetuates the stereotypicla idea of all unemployed people.

Shame on the makers of crap like this....

GinN Report 14 May 2013 13:23

PigletsPal, I couldn't agree more!
It would have been mich more helpful to portray genuinly skint people who are trying their best, as I'm sure the vast majority are.
If this is to be how they are to be portrayed, no wonder we get the impression of those on benefits as lawless scroungers!

i agree it was rubbish,
and stopped watching after a while :-(

Jean Report 15 May 2013 00:43

I agree with PigletsPal, They should show households who are in work, the struggles they have to keep their heads above the water. And do not allow the children to rule the roost. And who wants to see his bits, what has that got to do with being skint. Just a load of old crap.....
