Thanks G and Marilyn. I always feel for my brother, whose birthday was yesterday. The day after Mum died, he must have received a card in the post as she would have sent it off already I expect.

O.h's father has apparently been taking too much warfarin which he was prescribed not so long ago. Now whether that's down to his gp or the old boy himself, we don't know at the mo but when o.h. went yesterday to visit him he was a lot perkier. He is being kept in over the weekend and then might be allowed home. No idea where the story of the cyst on his stomach came from, via o.h.'s sister and if his blood was much too thin, I can't see how there were blood clots but no doubt we will get the full story in the end.

Hope he is ok so we can go on our hols with a clear conscience.

Hello Liz

Remember that your lovely Mum is only ever a thought away. Be gentle with yourself today, it is special and poignant to you. Focus on all the happier times you have spent together and be glad as your Mum wouldn't want you to be sad today, or on any other day.

Just for today leave your o.h. to take care of his Dad. You concentrate on yourself. Gentle hugs from Gxx

Thanks my friends, I didn't post for sympathy but just to acknowledge the day but it's nice to have your thoughts and love.

O.h.'s father was taken into hospital on Wednesday, he is 82 and not long had a kidney stone removed and then a new hip. First message we got said scan showed a cyst on his stomach, but when o.h.went to see him yesterday he was told the pain in the groin area, was due to blood clots. The old boy is already on warfarin as diagnosed with a heart condition when the checks for the ops were done earlier this year and last year. Not sure what is happening until the consultant visits him today but he was having a blood transfusion to make his blood move more freely (well, that's what o.h. understood the nurse to say but then o.h. has a useless memory).

He was much later back than he intended, and why? Because he got himself lost in the hospital and then couldn't find the car in the car park, so wandered about for at least half an hour. He is useless being let out on his own!

Just hope things get dealt with soon so his dad can get home again, his wife (o.h.'s stepmum) doesn't cope well on her own, she is quite frail and o.h.'s sister has to go in to feed the cats and sort out their litter tray etc.

today, the date she left us in 1995 after a third heart attack.

Hard to believe it's 18 years - I don't know where the time has gone. Wish she had lived to see my son grow up, she would be so proud of him, she loved him so much. Mind you, she would be 97 now and her arthritis would have probably caused her a lot of pain.
