We have been a safe house, it's heartbreaking to think that children need to runaway from home :-(

A Great Big Thank you to those who have signed up or even took time to read........

It is such a shame that some councils have not signed up, but the more that do then the more can be done .........

Rose thank you for putting up the facebook link too.... :-)

Rollo there are safe places in England, unfortunately there is not enough....The people who work in these places are like guardian angels to all the young lost souls and there are many a happy endings for some, just not enough........

I am fully behind anything that highlights the plight of anyone on the streets - no matter what age.
It is a frightening experience for an adult let alone a child. It is terrible and soul destroying.

However, it is also very very character building and can ultimately make one a stronger person.

Fair play to you Mersey for putting this up.

The "professionals" will either send them home or put them in care.
A great many of the runaways are from care homes or such wonderful places as Feltham anyway.

One of the worst things ever to happen to children was ROSLA. As ever high motives "unforeseen" consequences though there were plenty of warnings.

Safe ?
Not in England.

Mersey Report 22 May 2013 14:48

100,000 children run away every year. They are at risk of physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Two-thirds of these children are not even reported to the police. The experience of running away can have drastic long-term effects on a child’s life.

Please ask your local council to Make Runaways Safe.

Co-written by young, former runaways, the Runaways’ Charter tells agencies how young people want to be treated. They implore professionals to 'respect us, take us seriously'. We hear heart-breaking stories of how they are often picked up, dropped home and called 'time-wasters'.

Please urge your local council to sign the Runaways’ Charter.

Together we can Make Runaways Safe.
