We came from that area. My paternal grandad was a squaddy at the Woolwich Barracks in the early 1900,s

.The lads based there have always been part of the local area , some marrying local girls . The lads based there over the years have always been very welcomed by the residents .

Its very sad that extremists think that they can target innocent guys for political purposes. Guess its points to the London bombings too , let the innocents be targetted .

Poor lad and his family

The soldier killed in an attack on a London street has been named as Drummer Lee Rigby of the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

Drummer Rigby, 25, from Manchester, leaves behind a two-year-old son

Our ex SIL was Army and it was always a worry when he was posted to unsafe areas. at one time he was in Ireland when the troubles were at their height.

You don't expect these young lads to be at risk on home ground .

My heart goes out to his family
