I have seen caustic soda take the skin off a man's leg right down to the bone and the liquid went right through his jeans.

Nasty for the adults and especially for the children..
Hope they all recover ok.

I can't see how such a mistake could be made. I hope it wasn't done deliberately by a disgruntled employee :-(

Sue, I don't know about this particular store, but when I worked for the Bunbury Council many years ago, the fast food outlets at the time each had a separate external store where all cleaning materials were kept

The council will be down on the store like a ton of bricks, but will also need to explain about approval of current storage arrangements.

The young age of the employees and mangers does not help matters

I agree with the age of employees and manager in fast food outlets. I really hope that a young one isn't responsible - what a dreadful start to a person's working life.

I wonder if someone has confused Sodium Hydroxide with Sodium Chloride :-S

Do you know that caustic soda is in most detergents used in dishwashers?

That's why you should NEVER put wooden spoons in the dishwasher, they absorb the caustic soda.
