Thanks for the few good suggestions and the laughs along the way, seems that whether its butts, legs arms, many people face the stresses of clothes shopping. :-|

While on the subject, sizing generally is very haphazard - both men's and women's.

Why is it that a size 16 (say) in one make/shop is quite different from a size 16 somewhere else? I have trousers in sizes 18, 20 and 22 and all are a good fit!!! I always take a tape measure when I go clothes shopping. It reduces the number of items I have to try on to get the right size.

As for Small, Medium and Large - or double sizes 16/18 etc.....

When our daughter lived in Germany with her 1st hubby , he was in the Army , we spent many lovely holidays there. they were in Fallenboestal and wasn't to far to drive to Hanover etc.

I was slim then but at 5'9 I had severe difficulties in getting good fit clothes. We went shopping whist I was there and I stocked up at the German owned Stores ,rather than the British run ones for the troops, They catered for my size and when I found an excellent fit would buy several of the same item in different colours. mostly this would be in quality trousers/jeans that I lived in out of work hours

As I'm just over 5ft tall with short legs, I've become quite expert at taking up trousers and skirts over the years, and don't get me started on sleeve lengths!
However, I suppose it must be worse for the very tall - they can't really stick a bit extra on the bottom!

For a decent pair of Slacks try "Farah" get them from most gents outfitters in most sizes and a good fit. If you have a "Wards " in your area they stock them.**M**. :-D :-D

My friend in Germany (female) always buys mens jeans cos she has no butt and says men's jeans are cut to allow for that shaping.

AndysMum, I get annoyed about that quirk of fashon, just cos I am plump round the middle and bosom doesn't mean my arms are any longer than the average woman's. Also I find tops are made longer than those in small sizes, as someone who is 5'6" tall I haven't grown taller as I put on weight! So annoying! I bought a top from Tesco yesterday and had to turn the bottom up by 2 inches.

OH has trouble getting trousers/jeans, because of his thighs!

If they fit his thighs, they're usually too big everywhere else.

If he does find something that fits, he buys more than one!

At least he can find jeans that aren't slow-slung!!!!!

As a slight variation on the above, when will designers realise that arm length doesn't change if you put on weight?

As a slim teenager, my sleeves were just the right length, but as a pensioner several sizes bigger, they are always far too long.

Men are designed by women ?

My hubby can sympathise with yours, Haribo - he has no bum whatsoever! He's not skinny, having a 38 waist, but I think he's fairly average. Why don't trouser manufacturers realise that men rarely have big bums? Maybe they are designed by women. :-(

Feminine dress offers a challenging mixture of invitations & impediments. Men's atire does the opposite.

Blessed is the husband who can laugh at himself, he will never cease to be amused.

My hubby too has no butt, when he was younger he had his suits made to measure at the Co Op tailors .

He stil has no butt but does have a BIG. Belly so needs to get the waist size to fit But there's way too much material on the butt and once they have been worn a bit he looks like a sack of potatoes tied up in the middle with loose material at the back.
His trousers really need tailoring but I ,m past doing those jobs .

Have you tried the boys' department? I don't know about other makes, but M & S do teenage sizes up to 36" waist and 32" inside leg and they might have less material round the hips.

Perhaps trousers similar to these are the answer LOL
