I am not really interested in the ins and outs of their private life, like DazedConfused I find many of them somewhat intrusive.

I wish the Duke of Edinburgh a well deserved quiet and relaxing period of convalescence with his family and I hope the media leave them alone to enjoy it, although I doubt if they will.

He has been at the Queens side for so many years .hope he is there for many more .Best wishes x Barbra :-)

Excellent news. Now for two months at least of well deserved recuperation for HRH :-) :-)

In another 8 years he'll be getting a telegram from the queen ;-)

There is always a reticence by the Royal Family and its advisors to tell the truth - it is known as the "Don't Tell The Peasants Policy".

Ask any doctor and they will tell you that an operation involving general anaesthetic on a man of 92 is serious.

I am no Royalist but Good luck to the Duke of Edinburgh, I hope it is a successful operation.

If they do find anything sinister, will they let the public know?

I loved the reporter last night who said 'it is not for us to specualate what the problem is'. And then went on to do just that. Poor man has no privacy and I bet he hates it.

It really is none of our business.

The press are camped outside the hospital and TV pundits are discussing the poor bloke's bowels at 7 o'clock in the morning.

It's not news, it's a private matter and the press intrusion won't help.

Prince Philip is remarkable for his age as is the Queen, they both put many a quarter of their age to shame.

I hope that his doctors and surgeons get things sorted out and that both Prince Philip and the Queen will continue to serve our nation for many years to come, hopefully they will both cut down on their workloads and start to take things a bit easier.

I am sure the Queen will be very worried but she will not show that in public, a week tomorrow she will take the salute at the annual Trooping of the Colour ceremony at Horse Guards Parade and at the moment it looks as if this year Prince Philip will not be by her side, he won't like that as he loves these military ceremonies.

Wishing Prince Philip a Happy 92nd Birthday on Monday and I hope he gets well soon.

He will be in hospital for his 92nd Birthday next week which is a shame, hope they can sort out the problem and he is strong enough to cope with the anaesthetic(sp) and all that goes with an op.

Exploratory op. on a man his age is worrying - I am sure the Queen is upset but she won't show it. He looked very tired on one tv clip of the Coronation celebration but very spry on other clips especially at the Garden Party.

He had a very different life to that he probably expected, instead of working in the Navy as he enjoyed, he had to change tack (excuse the pun) and sort of take a back seat in a way, to the Queen but he has done her proud and she obviously still loves him as much as when they first met.

I guess any ailment is serious at his age. I do hope he gets to see his new great grandchild.

He is not well, no, but hes 91 years young.!!

He should be taking it easy, as it seems to be after big events that he falls ill.

He has been quite extraordinary for last 60 years (as has HM the Q). Difficult to realise he is 92 (edit: next Monday) and still plays his part the same as 30 years ago.

How we hope doctors can sort this problem out :-) :-)
