The plumber has been
First thing he had to do was remove the old vanity, which was attached to two walls & the floor. He ended up bashing it to bits with a hammer.
Plumber: Who installed this?
Me: YOU DID!
:-D
By the time that got all sorted & new vanity put in, he was running late......... for golf......guess who he's playing golf with? Yep, my OH.

The socket was fine.......... I wasn't in the room when OH plugged it in!
I plug heaters in by themselves (not doubled up with anything else).
I think he may have done a "no-no"! He's not saying.
Multiples of three........... should we buy three new heaters?
:-D

You must have had multiples of threes in your bad luck lately, maybe that's it now and the rest of the work etc will go well
Was it the plug or the socket caused the heater to go bang, may need checking before you plug in a new heater.
Hope next year's birthday is one where you have no worries to think about, just enjoying the day

Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!
I must leave something out for the "good luck fairies", maybe they will chase away the "bad luck gremlins".
Plugged in an electric heater last night....... it went BANG!!
:-(
On the good side....... plumber is coming tomorrow to install new vanity in the downstairs loo, and replace the hoses in all the other basins (just in case!).
When that's done we can get the carpet sorted..... but the carpet layer is on holiday for the next two weeks.
Going shopping on Friday for a new heater..... maybe we should get two?

I live in the sub-tropics with a golden beach within walking distance......... but it's winter here (brrrrrrrr!)...... and it's been a very long time since I've worn a bikini (I last wore a bikini when I was 42!) :-D
Nobody is expected here tomorrow.
No plumber, carpenter, painter, whatever......... I am having a lazy day, I'm not getting up until I have to..... to get a coffee.... then I'm going back to bed! I'm not answering the door or the telephone. Anyone who needs to get in touch can leave a message.
Woe betide any God botherers who ring my doorbell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just having my birthday a day later :-D

Thankyou PSD :-D
The plumber has been. He looked at the floor, then went under the house. No leaking pipes!!!! He thinks the wet patch on the floor is a low spot that stayed damp because the carpet was on top of it. We're going to leave it uncovered for a few days, see what happens.
The tv room is just lovely! Carpet rolled back & underfelt lifted, 3/4 of the floor is just bare. Everything echoes! With most of the furniture out, the room looks huge.
OH was going to make dinner for me, but we're both so fed up we're going out! Nothing fancy (there's not too many fancy places here), we're going to the local bowls club. It's bingo night, so there shouldn't be a crowd in the dining room. NO, I am NOT playing bingo! :-D
The replacement vanity etc was on the front porch (didn't see it until I let the plumber in)........ must have been delivered when I was in the shower this morning, because I didn't hear the doorbell.
Yay!!!!! There's a light at the end of the tunnel......... I hope it's not a goods train.
The carpet man is on holiday for a couple of weeks, that should give us time to get the floor & the bathroom sorted.
Yikes ~ I'll have to do housework again.
When it's all done I'm getting myself a bottle of bubbly and getting squiffy ;-)

Oh poor you Scozz, and on your birthday too! Can understand why you would feel like running away. You really have been unlucky.
Hope your next birthday is much better, and there are no more catastrophes for you all.
Many happy returns of the day

Two carpenters turned up yesterday to fix the squeaky floors.
One room now squeaks more.
The downstairs room......... pulled back the carpet......... and found a wet patch, next to the bathroom door.
There's a leak somewhere.
I'm waiting for the plumber to come and have a look. He will probably have to cut a hole in the wall in the room next to the bathroom (the laundry/utility room) to see the pipes.
OH better come home soon, because I can't get those cupboards out of the bathroom by myself.
:-(
What a lovely birthday I am having.

It's almost 1.30pm and no sign of the carpenter :-(
But! The painter turned up. We didn't know he was coming.
Last week we finally got the plasterer back to fix a small piece of the cornice in the downstairs bathroom.
That's the bathroom with cupboards now stored in it.
No way were we going to take the cupboards out of the bathroom (we managed to squeeze in another one, there are now three cupboards in there).
We told the painter not to worry about it, we'll paint it ourselves.
Where is the bl**dy co-ordinator of the job?
PSD ~ those cupboard are the tidiest in the whole house! All we have to do is put everything back again.
I'll get around to sorting my wardrobe one of these years.

after the flood.
The tradesman who is supposed to fix the squeaky floors 'phoned about half an hour ago.
He wants to come here tomorrow! :-(
Errrrrrrrrr. I told the "co-ordinater" we would need a bit of notice so that we could empty cupboards & move furniture.
"No problem" said the floor man "I can move the furniture".
But it has to be emptied first. Six cupboards, including one with the tv & loads of dvds & one with the stereo & loads of cds.
Looks like I'm going to be busy for the rest of the day :-(
I'[ve already emptied 1 cupboard, having a sit-down with a coffee :-(
I'll leave the whisky bottle where it is until later :-(
