A tragic loss of so many brave firefighters, my heart goes out to their loved ones and friends, and to all those affected by the fires too.

May those lost rest in peace, life's work well done.

I watched a programme about an English firefighter going to the Amazon to see how they worked, their equipment was basic and the area they covered was huge, they were brave and tireless.

There has been a large fire near Birmingham which was caused by one of those floating Chinese lanterns landing in a recycling plant.

It's very tragic ...............

they were an elite crew, working right at the site of the fire, with all the equipment necessary IF the fire moved in their direction.

they had the holes dug in which to take shelter

They had the fireproof tents (or covers) to pull over them after they had got in the hole(s)

and the fireproof covers either didn't cover them completely or they failed.

Some of them did not even make into their shelters, the wind changed direction so fast.

There will be a huge investigation into the reason why.
