Dear All

Hello

Hope you are okay.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said 74 further police statements could have been changed - taking the total number above 200 as well as personal statements from football fans.

Recently, 90 police pocket books were located by South Yorkshire Police along with notebooks and other documents.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which is examining police conduct in the aftermath of the April 1989 disaster, said last month it was looking for police notebooks after one officer it interviewed wrote notes on the day of the tragedy "contrary to instructions" from commanding officers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IPCC deputy chair Deborah Glass said the commission needed to deliver
"the last, definitive account" of Hillsborough, which claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool fans.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The latest announcement comes a year after the Hillsborough Independent Panel reported its damning findings.

The IPCC said it would investigate after the panel's 2012 report revealed
164 police statements had been altered.

The panel found that 116 of those statements were either removed or changed to alter negative comments about the police operation at the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in April 1989.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The original accidental death verdicts were quashed in December at the
High Court after the Hillsborough Independent Panel found that 41 of the 96 who died had the "potential to survive".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To date, still no justice for the people who died and their familes and friends.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take gentle care
Sincere wishes
Elizabeth, EOS

It is so disgraceful that the families had to fight for the truth so long and now they are still waiting. Said on news could take another 3 years - I would guess - double that.

I recall that day well - son and OH were watching and called me in. Son is a Liverpool fan and knew his closest friend was at match - he and his brother were OK. So many others were not.

And how many statements did they change in other cases?

OneFootInTheGrave Report 12 Sep 2013 15:03

The events that unfolded at Hillsborough on that day in 1989 were truly horrific and distressing and they have been made even worse with the alleged cover up by the police and others.

It is a disgrace that some 21 years after the events of that terrible day that families are still waiting to find out the truth of exactly what actually occurred and why it occurred.

I agree with ChrisofWessex about how long the families may have to wait for the truth, alas when it comes to dealing with cover-ups by those in authority, history has shown that the wheels of justice move very very slowly, and they will move even slower with a general election only about 20 months away - I doubt if there will be any rush to disclose the truth until after the election in 2015 :-(
