After nearly 12 weeks of trying to sign into my account, I have finally managed to get into the site. What is happening?

Hi Mersey,
Every time I try to log in I get the following message:- Server error in application ''GENES REUNITED'' HTTP ERROR 503.0- SERVICE UNAVAILABLE.
This has happened only since I updated Windows 8 And have had trouble with most programs since.

I think alot of people are having the same problem to be honest Harswell, I have to say I have not long had Windows 8 and I (taps wood) have not had any problems as such........

Try and persevere and don't let it put you off posting, maybe contact GR as others have done, but be prepared for abit of a wait LOL :-) :-)

Have had to get my old XP computer out of the loft to be able to get on the site.
Seems that windows 8 is to blame. New computer too expensive to throw into waste bin so will have to persevere. It has lost 25+years of family history research and over 10000 Photos. Luckily I always do backups.
So if anyone has got Windows 8 :- DON'T FORGET TO TAKE BACKUPS.

A lot of people have been having trouble with IE11 - which has very recently be installed on Windows 7(which I have). I was able to make do with Firefly, others with Chrome - but on asking our computer adviser he said the best thing to do was to uninstall it and go back to IE10 - and he added that some people have been having troubles in Windows 8 as well. Many people get Windows Updates automatically and don't realise that IE11 has inserted itself.
