Anyone else having trouble getting on the Ancestry site?

yes - after a few tries decided to leave it till the morning!

Thought it was just me. As you say we will have to leave it and try again in the morning.

Still having problems with Ancestry

Thought it was just me, I had been away for the weekend and when I tried to log in and could not, but fine this morning.

Ancestry's websites are currently unavailable. We are working to resolve the issue and will provide updates as we have them. Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE (12:27am BST): The service remains unavailable and our teams are diligently working to restore access to the website(s).

Ancestry have posted a notice on facebook that they are having problems and they are giving updates,

I had trouble last night. got in this morning for a while. Tried just now and can't get in. Wish they'd sort it out - they charge enough. It's all very well postng a notice on facebook but we are not all on there.

Can't get still at the moment .just tried and nope it doesn't open

I could get on this morning fine, went off to do some jobs, just tried again nothing, this has going on since about 2am I would have thought they would have sorted it out by now

UPDATE (6:40am BST): Thank you again for your patience - we know how difficult this has been. The site is back online, but we still have work to do so you might experience some issues with the Search and Trees features on Ancestry.com. The team will provide an update on the issue once we know things are back in full swing.

Unfortunately, the issues we were experiencing yesterday continue today and our service is not currently available. We will keep you posted as we have news to share.

Have read somewhere that the site was possbily hacked.

If so, you can understand the problems this could be causing, hence the delays.

Hackers are an pain in the butt....

Oh No...do you think they are after our private trees :-D

AN UPDATE FROM OUR CTO, SCOTT SORENSEN

Around 1:30 p.m. MT on Monday, June 16, 2014, attackers targeted Ancestry with a Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDoS). During the attack, Ancestry websites along with the Find A Grave website were clogged with massive amounts of bogus traffic that took the sites down.

We want to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and also thank you for your amazing support, as this may have interrupted some of your family history research. We understand how frustrating this can be for our customers, and please know that it was just as frustrating for us too. We appreciate your patience and support as we dealt with this unfortunate incident against Ancestry.

We have since neutralized the DDoS attack and our services have been up since 11:00 a.m. MT today. You should now be able to access all Ancestry and Find A Grave websites, though you may experience issues intermittently as we continue to work through bringing the sites back up to full capacity.

Your data was not compromised by this attack. This attack overloaded our servers with massive amounts of traffic but did not impact or access the data within those servers. No data was impacted in any way.

I would like to thank the Ancestry Web Operations team for working really hard throughout the night to restore the Ancestry and Find A Grave services and build the defenses necessary to mitigate future attacks of this sort. Our Web Operations team is closely monitoring the situation in case the attacks resume and we’re doing everything in our power to protect our websites from situations like this in the future.

When Ancestry is back online it will be overcome again with members trying to make up all the lost days :-(
Just like when people use it for free we have trouble getting onto the site then :-S

It hasn't been down for 24 hours yet, surely they can find something else to do

Still can't get on but you're right jax, I have done all my ironing

site is still down, I have tried to access it but can't
