For anyone else having problems, I have managed to log into Ancestry via Ancestry.com :-D as it's still not having it via Ancestry.co.uk. :-|

Should the hackers be caught, if they are American, they'll probably be given a job with one of the government departments to advise on and build Internet security systems!

A relative who works in IT, at that time for a Bank, used to live in San Francisco. At a conference there a reformed hacker was giving a speech. He was whipped off the stage by Homeland Security when his talk verged too close to 'how he did it '. :-D

I have been away on holiday for a week and have just returned.
Although I can access Ancestry and my tree, I notice that all the hints and potential tree matches have vanished from the screen

I also have a few messages from others re potential matches.
I cannot view the profiles or trees for any of these contacts?

Well, it looks like they have sorted the FTM program server problem out.
it appears to be working fine again now. :-)

The have mentioned on FB that although they are up and running there could be problems for while.

I think that the DDoS (?) bug is a virulent one and is causing major problems.

I just do not understand why people do this. Many hackers are not after our records, they just want to prove they can get into high security sites, and once in plant a virus to cause as much trouble as they can. They are a menace to society. They are not clever.

They should be caught and made to stand in the corner or sit on the naughty step forever ;-)

I just tried my FTM program and the authentication server is still out.

I`m not too bothered as I rarely use it anyway, but saying that, it is quite handy for checks and jumping onto Rootsweb .

Managed to access now by going in through an e mail. Didn´t click on the connection, but on the site name at the top of the message & lo & behold, it let me into the site & allowed me to sign in & view my tree.
Daren´t close it down now in case I lose it again.

Managed to access for a while yesterday, but no luck by late afternoon /evening, nor again this morning. Just getting timed out.
Tried a couple of tricks recommended by other users, e.g use the .com site instead of co.uk, or access via an e mail sent from Ancestry.
No luck with either.
Feeling a bit anxious as I am compiling a tree for my friends 87 year old Mum who is taking a holiday in the place of her family roots in a couple of weeks time.
Have some info on paper, but the bulk is trapped on the site.

Not had any problems today can view tree and records so far....but then I don't have FTM

There is certainly something not right.

I am now able to log on directly but when I try to access records via my FTM tree it gives up trying with the message 'No Internet Connection' where clearly there is.

Thanks for the information. At least I now know that Ancestry are doing their best to sort it all out.

Have had problems for more than one day, has been very slow for a few days. wouldn't let me look at one rellies details at all a few days ago! Then when looking for my great grandmothers siblings (via her sister) was told that there were no siblings. Luckily I was able to find them by going back a generation, so I know that they are still on my tree.

It just felt like someone was determined to build up a few brick walls - just to annoy and confuse me.

So pleased that this is the only thing I have got to moan about.

I count myself lucky.
BUT ---- please come back soon! :-S :-(
