There may have been a mix up when entering from the local register office returns into the general registers,it did happen -lots.

If there was a strong accent involved then it often caused confusion when registering events..

Hello I am having great difficult in finding my Grandmothers names, sorting them out is more to the point. She was born on 09/02/1891 by the name of louisa mardell, this is the interesting bit on her birth certificate father's name was James Mardell. Mothers name was Anne Mardell formerly Robinson. Then there is a note on the side of the certificate which says. Colum 4,5 and 7 to be changed. Column 4 (fathers name) to be changed from Mardell to Marling, column 5 (mothers name) to be changed from Mardell to Marling and her maiden name to be changed from Robinson to Robertson and column 7 her name to be changed from Mardell to Marling.
I don't think the registrar would make that many mistakes.
When she got married to my Granddad Henry Evans in 1912 she was living at 85 Cornwall St. The head of the household in the 1911 census was James Martin. I don't know if he had changed his name again.
My Great Grandad's name was John Evans (and I can't find anything about him)

I am completely stumped, I would like to get to the botton of this but do not have a clue how, could someone help me please.
