That Rebecca S Joyce going to Australia was born 1881, per travel record.
Their address was in Pitsea, Essex.

I can't see any marriage for such a couple in England/Wales.

But you said in your first post that he was born in 1875.

MMmmm - Thanks so much for this. It COULD be either but I can't see anything there that absolutely proves it's him. The 1939 register shows his birthday as 1 day different. I will check with the family to see if the date they have is 100% correct.

I did a find an electoral record for a James Albert Joyce and Rosina in Camden, London in 1926. I thought that maybe that that James was their son (as he has the exact same name) but then the Australian death record for the son shows his death was in 1966 and that he had been there 45 years which must mean he arrived in 1921 and so can't be that one in Camden in 1926.

I can't match this Rebecca to my James Joyce - and that record shows his birth as 1876 whereas he was born in Nov1987.

Hi all. I trying to help a friend find out what happened to a relative. The relative was JAMES ALBERT JOYCE, born in 1875 in Poplar, London.

We do know that he married a Rosina Jane Joyce nee Small in 1894. We are pretty sure he died between 1914 and 1918 and I'm thinking he may have died as a result of the war. However, I can't find a UK death record nor can I find a definitive Armed Forces death record, or even a service record.

Someone else in the family thought he followed his son (confusingly also James Albert) out to AUSTRALIA but I'm not convinced. I can find the son’s death record in Australia but not James Snr
