TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 17 Nov 2017 23:06

Hoping to be able to watch the live performance tomorrow night. Might be otherwise engaged with family.

Ruth was the right person to go last saturday. I reckon that she might have left the previous week, if there hadn't been Anton's fall and its aftermath. (Which was very funny - and spontaneous)

The ones in danger this week will probably be Jonnie and Gemma - they both make me rather nervous when they dance. I think that they both try their best, but the others are either better dancers and or mote entertaining.
Susan and Mollie are also in the firing line. I like watching Susan "dancing" I reckon that she and i are at the same level, so watching her gives me hope, except that she is a lot braver than I am.

Joe and Davood have both impressed me with their level of improvement. They have wonderful and talented professional partners. Of the "new girls" in the professional line up, Nadiya has impressed mr the most. (and not just because she has lasted the longest).

I reckon that Alexandra is probably a really nice person. However, she seems a little driven in her quest for perfection. she has the ideal partner in Gorka, as they both spend a lot of time in the gym, (on a daily basis). I love watching them dance.

Debbie impressed me from the opening show onwards. She must be really fit, dedicated, determined and brave. She also trusts her partner, Giovanni and it shows. She throws caution to the wind, hides any embarrasment she might feel very well and gives every dance everything she has got.

Although I was very impressed with Joe last week (all the hard work Katya had done with him paid off). I thought that a few times he looked as if he had streached a little too far and seemed slightly off-balance. Luckily, he just about got away with it, I would have hated to see him stumble.

I hope that the additional dancers are not a distraction this week. I think that we had them last time at Blackpool too, but can't remember my thoughts on them at all.

Just hoping that everyone dances to the best of their ability. Just a little concerned that some people might be overcome by the new bigger and bouncier surroundings.

Looking forward to tonight. I think Jonnie and Susan are the worst dancers left, but she has a big following, so will probably be safe

Tabitha Report 18 Nov 2017 20:33

They need to get rid of the extra dancers - gets too muddled

MotownGal Report 18 Nov 2017 20:36

Generally really enjoy the Blackpool show, but I thought it was a bit lacking tonight.

Tess, please stop shouting all the time, the audience cant love everything, and you cannot whip up a frenzy for every dance!

I don't really think the additional dancers added anything to the routines. In fact in one dance, they got in the way. I was really distracted by the fella with the Peaky Blinders haircut.

I cannot warm to Alexandra still. She is so gushing all the time.

Debbie was hampered by her backing dancers I thought, but generally very good as usual.

I think it may be between Jonnie and Susan this week.

Jeanette got in on the act again, didn't she?

Why were some families sat on the front row and not others? Were the celebs more important?

Rant over. Only time will tell.

Can only think they have the extra dancers at Blackpool because the ballroom is so huge and just two on the floor would get a bit lost...but I agree the extras were a bit distracting :-0

I thought both Gemma and Mollie stepped up a gear and were the surprises of the show.... especially Gemma, loved her Viennese Waltz :-D

Davood continues to impress.....he can be my Milk Tray man any day :-D

Debbie's marks are going backwards....still good but others are catching her and overtaking ....did she peak too soon :-0

Didn't see Alexandra or Joe :-D

So that leaves Jonnie and Susan..... can't think either would be better than Alexander or Joe:-0 I think they will be in the dance off ....with Jonnie to go :-(

I looked out for Jeannette this time MTG and you are right .....she was there at the front again!! lol.

The other dancers were a distraction, maybe they were just trying to fill up the big floor with action! How can you appreciate eg the armography in a Salsa through a muddle of other bodies and arms?

I'm not keen on Molly, but fair play to her, she had improved a lot and seemed more confident. Gemma seems to be blossoming too and trying hard to correct any faults.

I enjoyed Alexandra's dance, she seems to morph easily into different characters.

One improvement seems to be that they have cut down the use of the lasers. They were another distraction and were overwhelming in previous years.

I see Shirley managed a bit of a dance at the beginning this week!

I think Jonnie and Susan may be in the dance off next week, but who knows with the public voting.

AnninGlos Report 19 Nov 2017 22:01

Right decision in the end but I didn’t think Debbi should be in the dance off. Susan’s public are obviously going to keep her in.

MotownGal Report 20 Nov 2017 09:29

Crikey! Debbie looked absolutely shocked to be in the dance-off. I was surprised, but she looked crest-fallen. I thought we were to have a shock exit again.

Yes, Susan has a lot of fans, but I don't think she will last much longer.

I cant warm much to Mollie either, I don't know why.

Back to Elstree next week, so back to normal.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 20 Nov 2017 14:03

Very strange voting again this week.

Should have been Mollie and Jonnie really or Susan

Didn't like the dance Mollie did if it was suppose to be a Charleston it was one of the most weird ones i have ever seen.

Loved Gemma's and Alexandra's (dont know why but I really dont warm to her at all)

Didn't like Joes dance - but he did the lifts well - and thought the chap from Eastenders did well too. Didn't like Debbies dance either but then i dont like Samba & Salsa type dances either. I think Susan was ok but just walked it really.

Be interesting to see what happens this week.

I was surprised that Debbie was named as one of those in the dance off and I think so were all the other dancers especially Susan.

I thought Debbie in the dance off looked a bit unsteady on her feet....perhaps it was the sprung floor :-0

The result was right though, although I did feel sorry for Jonnie.....the look on his face was as if to say, is it really worth me dancing in the dance off :-(

It's getting serious now :-D :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Nov 2017 18:42

I thought Jonnie was a good loser. He really did seem grateful to have been judged as an equal. He did really well to get to Blackpool. Debbi did look shocked to be in the dance off. Did Joe actually drop his professional partner at the end or was it planned?

Annx

Annx Report 20 Nov 2017 19:10

Debbie did look a bit shocked didn't she, but it wasn't her finest dance and she was in a tricky position on the leader board. I would have been embarrassed to stay in in preference to Debbie had I been Susan!! But then it isn't a usual dance competition when marks are judged by ability on the one hand but are also affected by public whim and who is liked the most on the other. Jonnie was an absolute gent though and showed he appreciated not being treated as disabled. He did try to stick his bum under more in the dance off too. :-)

I think Susan will be in the dance off next week.......but who with??

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 20 Nov 2017 22:04

Anyone who is a better dancer than she!

MotownGal Report 25 Nov 2017 09:48

Debbie doing the Argentine Tango tonight. Looks fab in rehearsals.

Sadly Susan to go tonight I feel, unless someone messes up!

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 25 Nov 2017 18:05

Gemma really stepped up her game last week. She was magnificent! Have to confess that she surprised me big time. But I am so pleased to be wrong. Keep it up Gemma, believe in yourself.

Was pleased for Susan, but think that her time has come. She is obviously delighted to have got so far
After getting it so wrong last week, I am hesitant to offer any further opinions for tonights show. I am looking forward to being dazzled.

last week I watched it with my 12 year old grandson. It was the first time he has watched it this season. He correctly forecast (within one opoint) what each couple would score straight after they finished dancing. (Excepr for the first couple, when he didn't offer an opinion at all). He isn't a dancer, so I don't know why he was so accurate.

The Paso thingy should be interesting. All the couples have already dancer it, so no one should be disadvantaged.

The couple with the lowest score are Mollie and A. J. with 22 points in week 8.
The couple with the highest score are Alexandra & Gorka with 36 points in week 2

But of course tonight is another night.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 26 Nov 2017 07:06

This week my top three, in no particular order ;-), were

Debbie's Argentine Tango... After last week she certainly pulled out all the stops :-D I love this dance anyway but she certainly had the WOW factor :-D

Davood's Waltz....He certainly looked the part and showed great elegance which the male celebs often find quite difficult to show :-D

Joe's Quick Step ... what precision and energy :-D

So that leaves Alexandra, Mollie, Gemma & Susan :-0

Alexandra's Rumba....Hmmmm showed she is vunerable afterall. I personally don't care for the Rumba and there didn't seem to be much flow. She didn't look so smug after the Judges remarks this week :-0

Mollie's Quick Step....I think she is improving. The second week in a row where she has got encouragement from all the Judges. She still has a lot to do to catch my top three but is moving in the right direction :-D

Gemma's Dance......Such a pity she couldn't maintain the standard of last week :-(. I don't think the choreography helped...I couldn't make out whether it was the choreography or whether a lot of the moves were too floppy for the dance; I think it was the later and she just wasn't executing them very well :-0

Susan's Dance....I think the Judges were definitely trying to direct the public this week :-0. Yes, it was entertaining but, as the Judges said, lacked the technical elements :-(

So for me it has to be Gemma & Susan in the dance off, with Susan to go :-(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Nov 2017 09:50

L Belle, I agree with your choices and your choice for the dance off. susan should definitely go this week. But will 'her' public keep her in?

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 26 Nov 2017 21:12

Well that was a fair dance-off wasn't it? Even Susan said it herself, but it had to happen, she was lovely, enjoying herself, but her dancing was not up to the standard of the others.

Alexandra looked gobsmacked this week. I think they are so used to getting lovely comments, that when they are in the dance-off it dents their pride.

It is getting down to the nitty-gritty now. I am not sure that Mollie or Gemma will last much longer, the competition is too tight to call.

Musicals next week, so should be good.

Jeanette still shoving herself up the front.

Hasn't Oti got a cracking pair of pins? She can give Beyoncé a run for her money.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 27 Nov 2017 07:37

Well the result of the dance off was a no brainer for the Judges just as it was last week with Debbie & Jonnie :-0

It also showed that the dancers can't become complacent....say it was Debbie & Alexandra in the dance off ....now that would give the Judges a dilemma :-0

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Nov 2017 09:19

It is going to get harder now. Debbi is also getting tired, she said she was really feeling her age this week, I think she will struggle to keep up now but how well she has done to get this far (I don't like to sound agist as I think she is a marvel) at her age. I hope she doesn't push herself too hard now.
