Thank so much, I will check and make sure I tick that box.
I quite naïve in the beginning but was once warned about 'name collectors' by someone in a local family history group so now I never open my trees to just anyone they have to give me some evidence of connection first. :-)

However, I think that even hiding a living relative does not prevent the name showing up when someone does a member Tree Search ........ it certainly doesn't on Ancestry

As Detective said, most of does NOT open our trees ........ we extract relevant information and send that to people who have demonstrated that they really do have a connection with a particular branch.

Easiest thing might to be to just replace the name and other details of a living relation with "Living".

Click ‘my account’ on the top line of your screen.

At the bottom of the resulting page is a box to tick ‘hide living relatives’. Remember to ‘Save’.
It won’t hide them from other people’s searches but will if you give them access to your tree. Many of us don’t open our trees except to trusted near relatives. There are still ‘name collectors’ around who hoover info regardless of their connection.

Apart from myself, is it possible to keep the names of living relatives invisible on shared trees?
I have various members names/details on my tree (mainly for my use) and I don't readily share it but don' mind sharing if there is a definite link to someone else however I would like to make living relatives invisibly to any viewers? :-)
