You might have got away with it IF you switched off the main switch feed

Our power was out for ten days.
But not everyone in the road as it depended on which pair of the three phase supply the house was connected to.
Next door was on so we ran a cable across and INTO one of our sockets. Bingo: limited power on.
Totally illegal and dodgy.
The leccy company warned when the power was going to come back on so we were able to disconnect in time to avoid having 440 volts going through the telly !!!

Thirty- one was in jeopardy today.

I was turning some left-overs into a nut roast and I knew I had ground some dry roasted peanuts and put them in the freezer because they were not being eaten.

The box was clearly labelled so I would know what was in it (there's innovation!?).

Had all the ingredients ready, went to the freezer, found the box. Lid off, ready to tip into bowl and didn't look right.

Well, it wouldn't. The lid was on a box of vanilla ice-cream!

Oh dear, red mist!

I saw on the MailOnLine last night that there is a hurricane heading towards the UK, might hit this weekend??????????????????????? :-S :-S :-S :-S

Not so much a romantic comedy. More a horror movie I would say!

We also slept through the Not-a-Hurricane. Our toddler son clambered into bed with us at the height of the storm, not that the clambering in was unusual!
A large limb of our 80 yr old Acacia tree fell onto the neighbours front grass. Luckily it missed their car. The TPO man came out to see if the tree was still standing. As it was at an angle, he gave verbal permission to have it felled. We waited until the strong winds the following March when we could see the trunk twisting & ground rocking.
Various large shrubs/small trees in the front garden had heaved over. We lost 2 large fence panels from the back boundary.

Several ancient oaks had fallen & blocked the normal route to the primary school. We met a police car whilst walking an alternative route. The police officer said not to bother; although there were people milling around in the playground, their info was that it was closed.

Initially our power was out, but came back within 12 hours. Others weren’t so lucky & were disconnected for over a week. Those who had power were storing their frozen food & letting them have use of their bathroom for hot showers etc.

OH did eventually make it in to work by road having had to make several detours to avoid not only trees but also ‘live’ fallen power cables. That evening he asked why the council hadn’t cleared our ‘heaved’ trees. Er....very few other people in our road had gone to work: they’d been clearing their own debris!

My husband was going to work very early morning . He came and got me up to go out and hold the up and over garage door so he could get the car out

I was working in London then and I wasn't able to get to work as the trains weren't running when I went to the station at 7.15 am

His response later was "well times money !!! "

Remember that storm hardly slept all night big old oak tree near the house, mostly stayed in place thank goodness lost a few big branches though.
To Sharron original point you go girl, they could make a romantic movie out of the story no doubt :-)

Reminds me of something on facebook right now along the lines of "I carry a photo of my wife in my wallet, we've been married twenty years. Whenever life throws something bad my way I look at that photo and think if I can survive so long with this psycho I can survive anything"

I missed the worst - slept though it all - as did my children.
Next day, I walked them to school.
The place was a bit devastated - a huge sign in a field said 'Have you seen my shed?
It was found a few days later, about a mile away, having rolled across the countryside!
The roof of the school swimming pool had fallen in too.
Oh - and the children were sent home early :-(

I had taken my mate's false teeth to be repaired that night and she was going out te following night,she needed them.

Had a hell of a job getting them back to her.

....so the earth didn't move then?.......

...but the trees did, as did the roofs, tiles, vehicles et etc..... :-D :-D :-D

No, that was the following week.

Lot of upheavals around that time.

It wasn't the Hurricane was it - though that was 15 - 16 October.

I feel that I could look them in the eye now.

Some time this week, and neither of us can remember when, the Big G and I have been together thirty years.

We can't remember which event was the one where we first met and I only know it is this week because it is also the thirtieth anniversary of something else and I do remember that.

Who says romance is dead?
