Wartime spirit resurrected:

Shop shelves empty.
Bottled water scarce.
Electric kettle useless - no electricity.
Newspapers full of doom commentaries.
Essential employees on double-time.
Brexit talks postponed - yet again.
Corbynism on the rise.
Busy God answering prayers from many He does not know yet.
Kremlin having a good laugh at our distress.
Remainers wish to move elsewhere till the calm arrives.
Tinderbox Commons debates.
Ryanair still trying to sell seats on non-flying aircraft.
Split infinitives everywhere.
Finally, King Canute is very busy trying to fight off the income tidal deluge. :-(

Thank goodness I didn't fork out for a new roof just had it patched up.

If the teashop asks nicely and pays his Apple taxes perhaps the EU will lend the money for a proper power grid instead of string and wooden poles.

Dublin was a Viking city a long time before KIng Knut came into the world.

Weird light - and getting darker :-S

Folded up garden furniture and put it away.
That way it can all disappear in one lot! :-\

Maggie,
Was the weird light orange?

The sun popped out from behind the orange clouds here this morning and it looked like a halloween pumpkin.
It was weird.
There was no glare at all, just a big orange ball in the sky

Weird sun and light here too in London:-0

It has that eerie feeling just like an eclipse....even the birds have stopped singing

Glasgow lass, when the bright orange sun was out - it was orange, then it it was yellowy and got very dark.

It's rather dark here at the moment :-S
I hung some washing out this morning (ever the optimist!).
...then, about 12, it got really dark.

So dark, the outside light came on when I went to get my (still wet) washing in!!
...and it's getting progressively darker :-0

I'm disappointed we have not had any Domesday update recently from 'End of the Worlders'.

I used to enjoy their pessimism laced with optimism. :-S
