Henry Floyd died in 1842.
Strangely, the information about Palmerston was an aside after the following article from 1904 - which itself is weird:

"Curious find - A very curious find has been made this week by Mr Mackrell of Church Street, Whilst unpicking a coat he found, inside the lining, a printed account of the death and funeral of the heaviest man in England, who lived in Romsey. His name was Henry Floyd, and he died at the early age of 47. The curious thing about the find is that Mr Mackrell’s father was accidently drowned on the 18th March 1830, in the River Test whilst walking from Eling Mill to Nursling Mill. His body was not recovered until seven days afterwards, when Floyd was the man using the drags at the time and caught the body".

OH has some ancestors who lived in the same village as a famous artist. The fact that he died some time before the first ancestor moved there is irrelevant - MIL was convinced the two families were great friends!!

Henry Floyd was a rotund man - apparently the heaviest man in England at the time. When he died, he was called a Builder Foreman - but he also ran a pub. Apparently he had another string to his bow:

"It may be mentioned that Floyd carried on a business as a bacon curer in The Hundred, and on one occasion as Lord Palmerston was driving past his premises he asked Floyd the reason why he was so fat. Floyd proudly pointed to the numerous sides of bacon suspended in his shop as the secret of his greatness."
