the Black Swan in Swanage and the Fontmell at Fontmell Magna won't disappoint. Arrive early. The B.S. is a bit quixotic about opening so check first.
Weymouth itself is a bit of a culinary desert though there is (was?) a very good fish n chip bar.

The Fontmell gets its fishy things daily from Devon. Yummy.

Not far away is East Coker supposedly the perfect English village. Certainly TS Eliot thought so.

You would think the ponds would have been replenished with all the rain we have had

I only have a small pond. One of those preformed fibreglass ones but the goldfish seem to thrive in it

Have only two big goldfish now from the original eight but they are probably from spawning of the original
Two years ago three new fish appeared and grew but then we had only one left . It had grown quite big and was doing ok BUT sometime in the last week it has gone swimabout!!
Think the cat .of maybe the gulls have had a gourmet dinner

The ones swimming around are quite big and almost a trout size so the ponds ecology must be spot on

They ignore fish food put in so must be feeding naturally

Morning all from a very damp dark Oxfordshre...I haven't been down to the pond to feed the fish since last Thursday..What a shock this morning when I went to feed them..The water had gone down far enough to expose the ledges and the pump tops..I have 2 green tench and 3 small Koi who could just about cope with this situation but I was concerned about our big Koi..Lovely burnt gold colour and about 20 inches long...I put the hose down and it took just under 2 hours to top it up again...I keep going up and down to see if there's any change...Me water bill will go up a bit..I'm on a meter....
Other than that,, all is fine here in fairyland..
Got the memorial bench for the churchyard...Next week order the new shed.Off to Weymouth for a day out Friday....Anybody recommend a good place to have lunch there???
Best go and check the washing and the pond level....
Love reading all the postings on the boards.....Love to all our readers.....LES.......
