...I think we had a choice when I was at school - and if they were available, I would have avoided them :-|

...but, as I said, I ought to try one. Can't comment on them, unless I've tried one.

I read a while back canned SPAM was intended for the US army.

Allegedly the pigs walk in, are slaughtered at the factory's abattoir

skinned cooked and canned, for the military or the shops. Very efficient.

They do the most delicious gizzard salad in France. Salade de gizzieres or something like that.
