Personally I am the grumpy old woman. I hate them and won't open the door

It's another American thing that has crept in

When I was a kid it was penny for the guy and we did buy fireworks or sizzlers with the money collected

I remember many moons ago opening the door to teenagers . Not dressed up at all, but asking trick or treat.I said no thank you to find the next day the door and porch all hardened with silly string all over the front door and the porch widows
I was fuming as it was a defacement of our property


So don't knock at my door . I,m not interested nor have I bought sweets to fend you off

Just bugger off ok !!!!!
