I remember one occasion coming home from school, seeing what the dog had deposited on the rug, and heading down the library, returning once parents were home to deal with it! Age does away with squeamishness to some degree!

I'll step in "manfully" when needed ;-)

As this morning when son said that the cat had been sick on his bedroom floor, would I clean it up? I suggested he do it but he said it made him feel sick...so I responded (in jest ) with "Snowflake!".

lolol it's something we were talking about recently, this label of "The snowflake generation" :-)

Has anyone read about the complaint made by a couple after a paediatric surgeon wrote, in a follow-up letter, that Dad had stepped in 'manfully'?

So what - it is a word, even though little-used now and I do believe it can be used in a non-gender specific way.

The female of the couple is bleating on about whether she would have been described as 'womanfully' (not a word, I think). They have said that they are both responsible for their children but in my opinion this sounds like a couple with a tad too little to do.

Get a life springs to mind!

I feel sorry for the surgeon over what I believe is a storm in a teacup. I wonder why the couple felt the need to shout it from the rooftops instead of having a quiet or written word with the surgeon about it.

I wonder whether the couple felt recompensed by the apology or ..........


Note to surgeon: use the words 'motherly' and 'fatherly' at your peril. :-0

Note to hospital: create a standard follow-up letter that only uses tick boxes - forget about those who seek more information.

Are these people two of what everyone describes as 'the snowflake generation' do you think?

I do earnestly hope their children turn out OK.
