Well, last nigh, Betty came upstairs, and 'paddled' around half of my body - then settled down the opposite side to George - thereby pinning me in bed :-| :-| :-|

:-D
Very sorry you lost your top cat.
They are very Darwinian creatures quick to grab an ecological niche.

The scars left by senior cat's massive sharp claws who died in October have faded but I am stlll haunted.

Look forward to the next episode.

Well! Betty decided to sleep downstairs last night :-(

She actually has more than a plastic bag, or newspaper to sleep on - these are just her usual favourites - there's a huge rug, cosy sofa, chair, wicker chair with cushion and fake sheepskin, and even a cat-sized basket right by the radiator (last week's favourite).

Looking forward to tomorrows episode.

Since 'alpha' cat Mister Meow was put down in August - the dynamics between George (the wuss puss) and Betty the 'midget' (full name Violet Elizabeth Bott) have changed.
Betty, for the first time in 11 years - has started sleeping on my bed!! :-S
In times gone by - George and Mister would sleep there - Betty preferred downstairs, on such luxury bedding as plastic bags, newspaper, or just the floor.
I always thought she never slept upstairs because the other two were 'dominant' - now I believe it was me.

She was on my bed when I went to bed last night, and she did something I had totally forgotten about.
Once I was in bed, she lay, belly flat down, all four sets of claws out, and, in a very happy mode, traversed my body using her claws - like you see kittens clawing along the carpet - she was doing this all over my body.
She then settled down next to me and went to sleep.

Now, this is fine with a 10.5 winter tog duvet on. Just about okay with a 4.5 summer tog duvet, but in the depths of summer, with just a sheet on, I expect she was ejected quite rapidly! :-|
She is a small cat with equally small - and extremely sharp - claws!

I will see if the same happens tonight!! :-S
