Yes it is confusing, a similar problem occurs when uploading to Keepsafe.

You are right Kense.

I did exactly that......but didn't notice the new tab that popped up.

It's been a while since i have viewed my family tree on here.

Just going to say the same, kense.

Results ‘Opening in another tab’ confuses people all the time.

Mind you, Carol will still have to contact the tree owner to exchange details.
Unfortunately there many dormant accounts on Genes. The only way to see if your message had been accessed is to look in your GR ‘sent messages’ box. Unread messages have an envelope icon next to them.

When you click on the purple star there should be another GenesReunited tab open. Go to that tab and you should find the list of other trees there.

Hi Carol

Click on "Search" above......and then click on "Search All Member Trees" from the dropdown menu.

Add the details of the person/s in your tree that has a purple star to indicate they appear in other members trees.....and click on "Search" at the the bottom.

If you find any connections......you can then click on "Find Out More" to be able to send that member a personal message.

When you add a person to your tree......you have to be sure to click on "Save" at the bottom of the page.

I hope that helps!

If you need help with your research......members are always more than happy to help on the "Find Ancestors" board.

Prickles. :-)

You can only view OP trees if they send you invitation. To get an invitation send a message asking nicely giving some details of your connection. If the op is still active and gr has their current email address you may get a reply. Allow two weeks.
Unfortunately a big chunk of GR users are no longer active.

wheni click on the purple star on members in my tree it tells me how many other trees they appear in but how do i see these? as nothing happens. Also i have tried adding spouses following the links but nothing happens. I thinks some of the methods have changed since i was last on a couple of years ago.
