Jingle Jems...my husband also was diagnosed with IPF in 2004 and was given 18 months by the consultant.we got almost 7 years,

It was said that it wasn’t caused by smoking, but that the netting from the lower lungs progressing upwards was caused by pollution, don’t suppose smoking helped, but my OH was a policeman on the beat n Oxford Street ,Marble Arch etc in the 60’s when you could smell the smoke and diesel fumes in London and other big cities.

This was called a very rare disease, and yet my immediate neighbour had it and was a farmer, and I believe they used to call it farmers lung .

I believe, now it seems to be getting more common they are doing more research into this.
I do hope your husband gets the very best treatment.it is hard on you too. <3

I met Keith once- in the late 1970s.

At the time he was engaged to the daughter of the MD of the local newspaper that I worked for, and he came into reception to wait for her. He was very pleasant and much smaller in real life than I'd thought.

I'm hoping that Keith's death will be a wake up call for OH, as he too has the lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and has not yet given up smoking.

RIP Keith <3
