The DVLA run checks of untaxed vehicles and those too far adrift ( 90 days? ) get a Denver boot. If the tax remains unpaid eventually the vehicle is seized. That happens more often than not. Yes, it makes parking an even bigger hassle.

Since the govt scrapped tax disks there has been a big increase in untaxed vehicles. The French scrapped the tax disk (vignette) too but put 5c on a litre of fuel to make up the money rather than use cctv to enforce the tax. Gallic logic.

The govt are planning on a similar cctv spy network to enforce "no hard borders" in Ireland even though it has failed for car tax collection.

yes they DO have vans driving around, fitted with anpr cameras so they don't even have to check parked,(or even moving) vehicles individually...the static cameras also
do the job, tax or insurance...untaxed get clamped...uninsured get crushed
mostly fitted to parkways and busy roads....

Absolutely Joy

It was very annoying when hubby was being picked up by minibus for his day at Dementia day care.
They often had to double park and the lady carer and I had to assist him between the cars to get on the bus

I often find I can't get anywhere near the house when I come home with the weekly shop and have to stagger .literally ,doing several trips from up the road to the house with bags of shopping
We all have garages . My car is always parked in mine but others seem to use the garage for storage and park in the road

Plus several have more than one car so yes the extras have to be road parked
One family who live way up the road in a walkway have 4 !!! Cars including two people carriers one of which is often parked outside mine and not moved for a week

I find it bee annoying not to get parking near my own house
And yes I do know it isn't a right but still annoying

Went to lunch with grandaughter on Saturday

She dropped me back home and as usual all the world and his cat had taken up all the parking only a couple of the spaces taken were actually neighbours .(bone of contention but that's another story !!)

So we found a tight space up the road and had to walk to mine and noticed two of the parked cars had been clamped ,the shoes were stamped DVLA and they had parking type tickets under their windscreen wipers

Grandaughter being nosy looked at one and it was for no road tax

Do the vans drive around now checking for tax?

Both cars are still there this morning stil firmly clamped ,they won't be going anywhere for a while and of course are taking up parking from the actual residents :-|
