Looking at the Lakeland sale I see they have a dehydrator quite substantially reduced.

I have heard about dehydrators but not very much, Dame Kelly Holmes who is,I think, a vegan, prepared a whole meal with one on 'Come Dine With Me'.

The fact that they are in the sale does make me wonder if it worth having one but think it might be a way to utilize more of what is in the garden.

Has anybody else used one? Is it worth me investing in one?

I hadn't heard of these so googled 'what does a dehydrator do?' And there were some interesting articles about the pros and cons. One from The messy baker was informative.

I wouldn't buy one but you are more into self sufficiency so it might be worthwhile having one

Anyway, I have ordered one as I feel that, at a 50% discount, I can mes about with it and, if it is useless, I have only lost that much.

Given the price of sun dried tomatoes it may be worth buying one. Store them in olive oil, should last for ages.

I have never used a sun dried tomato. I am more a spud and cabbage kind of cook.

A woman at our allotment uses one for all sorts of her grown stuffs,

she does lots of tomatoes,,,,,and lots of fruit which she uses along with fresh in her booze fueled pot and lets it ferment.

I did have a go with one at an local archive fun day ,a banana ended up like poly beads. :-D :-D :-D.

Fred's mate is getting too damned good at growing so it will be something interesting to play with.

I do know somebody who has one and she thinks it is great, however I have not tried anything she has dehydrated as it is her mum who told me about it.

I used one to dehydrate water for a camping trip. It save space and was very light. Better than lugging bottles of water around! :-D :-D :-D
