His fur is thick and soft, there is no top coat of longer hair. Fine pair of pantaloons though!

I think he might be Daddy's boy because he sleeps on OH, not between us.

He is very clever!! :-D
He looks like he has fur similar to Betty.
She loves being brushed - George hates it.
As Betty is nervous of new people, I've found that, if I give them Betty's brush (It's got metal 'bristles' and looks lethal), and tell them to just hold it at an angle - Betty will do the rest - ie pull under her ears over the bristles - and - worst of all for those who don't know her, will 'brush' her mouth over the bristles :-S

When I brush her, I have one brush on the floor, bristles up (that she brushes under her ears, face, etc with), while I brush the rest of her.

My cat sitter accused Betty of growling at her (Betty spits, at George, but has never growled at anything in the house) - while she was brushing her!!
I deduced that Betty purred very loudly and opened her mouth at the same time!!! :-) :-)

They have gone off up to bed together.

He is, full on pet pussy for hours and then he goes off and gathers himself. He is wise, he is pacing himself.

Not worried about the quilt but he is not the best behaved cat I have ever met.

You would have thought the consequence of stealing from the kitchen (nuts off) would have made him watch his Ps and Qs but no. OH brought me a cup of tea and a slice of toast and Marmite this morning. Jackie woke me up sniffing the Marmite so I folded it over with the Marmite inside.

Jackie jumped on the window sill and I told him not to knock the telephone off so he immediately kind of hooked his chin over it to deliberately knock it off!As I was leaning down the side of the bed to pick up the handset, he was licking the toast!

Gosh! He's made himself at home quickly!! :-D :-D
You're not to worried about your quilt?

So pleased Shadow is still lurking - and establishing the area by the cat flap as HIS!

Sharron Report 16 Jan 2018 11:39

Well, I can tell you that Jackie Milburn enjoys three in a bed! What more could I want, quilt o the bed with new pussy on it?

Shadow is evidently dis[pleased with us.He has never ventured in to the front room from the kitchen so we keep the door shut in the evening when we wedge the cat-flap open for him.

The night before last, he came in after we were in bed, ate his bikkies and left us some cigars beside the bowl! We put the dirt box down there last night as JM appears to have no use for it which is not particularly inconvenient. We now have a poop scoop by the bath and can put the solid matter straight down the pan and slew the bath round with a drop of vinegar or bleach, I have a telephone tap.

Won't be long before I am dealing with butchery I suppose!

..the little bar steward - George - sneaked in today. I didn't see or hear him.

I heard thumping. Initially thought it was next door, then, maybe George playing upstairs - had a look from the bottom of the stairs - didn't notice him. Then I thought, perhaps a cat under the stairs - but the door hadn't been opened.
Then I looked up from the bottom of the stairs again - George was plucking a bird :-|

When he (very rarely) catches a bird - he always goes to the stairs - the only carpeted bit - and plucks it. :-| :-| :-| :-|

How's Jackie, Sharron?

maggiewinchester Report 14 Jan 2018 15:08

Could you put the litter tray (with a bit of his 'offering' in it) in the bath?

As for 'gathering' himself - Betty's 11, was born here - and up until recently, regularly hid for no reason.
George hides when he's been beaten up. :-(

Oh - and if he 'fancies' it, he goes in the airing cupboard.
The door is always shut, but he can open it 'when it suits' :-0
He knows I don't like him in there - I can't see him, he's right at the back, but if the door is open - I know he's in there.
He also knows that if I see him out of the airing cupboard, I will jam the door shut.
Once there, though, no amount of enticing will make him move.
It's amazing how subtly he can creep downstairs, silently out the cat flap for a pee or whatever - then comes back in like a bat out of hell and up those stairs back into the airing cupboard, so fast, I haven't a hope in wotsit of getting to the door first :-| :-| :-|

He is probably not used to being in a caring home so is a bit confused on what he should do
Once he settles and feels safe I bet he gets into a rhythm of a routine

He is a lucky boy but has to feel his feet !!!

Sharron

Sharron Report 14 Jan 2018 13:56

He is still leaving us bath cigars but I don't really mind, it is easy enough to deal with, probably less fuss than a dirt box, it is not so hard to put a bit of bleach or vinegar down the bath when I have put it down the pan.

We have had him posing on the new quilt this morning but he still has to hide away and gather himself sometimes but he is getting the hang of being a pet pussy.

Our friends once tried to train a new rescue cat to do her business in the toilet in the second (guest) bathroom.

She refused point-blank ........... but would do it in the bathtub, near the plug hole

They put in the plug and ran a small amount of water into the bath.

That also didn't work ................ she left a message for them near the plug.

Result ........... stop the attempt, ensure the bathroom door was closed, andbring out the litter pan.

He has spent most of the day under the sofa but has come out twice(to eat!) and he is lovely. He loves being stroked and he has purred, had a little play and . now he has gone upstairs, probably to have a crap in the bath!

we took on our daughters cat when she moved in with her hubby to be

He is severely allergic to cats, amongst other things, that he has to carry an epee pen with him at all times

so Kizzy the cat was really an outdoor cat and would only come in early morning to feed and have a sleep and then off again . he would do the same early evening

If it was really cold or heavy rain he would reluctantly stay in overnight but then he scorned the litter box and would do his business around the plug hole in the walk in shower

would have to make sure the doors were open so he didnt do it elsewhere.
It was quickly cleanable as we have a loo in the same room

Sharron Report 12 Jan 2018 11:43

Desmond tiddled down the plug hole in te wet room a couple of times when the dirt box was being cleaned.

They must have an idea mustn't they?
