I don't know if this is the right place and my apologies if it isn't. How do I transfer my tree onto a memory stick which I can give to my grandchildren? I have never done anything like this before so I am a complete novice. Thank you.

1. export your tree to a GED file The GED file is a text file but will show up as gobbledegook in any editor.

2. it will arrive as an email attachment

Some people report long delays but my experience it will arrive between 30 mins and 24 hours

3. save the GED file to your USB stick - it will be well under 2 GB
Myself I would just send it as an email attachment and not bother with USB stick.

4. your rellies will be able to import the GED file into most family tree programs. NB: when importing a tree into GR any existing stuff will be deleted. GRAMPS is a good free program with good printing functions.

The GED file will NOT contain notes or pictures.

good luck
