I had an email today to say that ours have been approved. We are getting just short of £150 between us which is more than I thought

Many thanks LindainHerriotCounry for this link. I passed it onto my niece who has LPA for my sister. She was pleased to let me know that a refund will be paid into her mother's bank account . ........ so a good result, thanks again.

That is good to know. I didn’t notice that bit, just that it said the money would go into the donors bank account. I suppose if you had probate, there is no reason you can’t claim and split the money between any beneficiaries

I just spotted a little paragraph in the Sunday paper, I haven’t noticed any publicity about it

Thank you again Linda as OH rang them this morning and has to send a few documents to them and they will send him a refund. If you hadn't put this thread on he wouldn't have known. :-D

You can claim after the person (donor) has died as well, but have to phone the number given. This may apply in my MIL and FIL's case so thanks for posting Linda.

So it does, good job we live in England :-D

The amount varies between £37 and £57 depending on the date Typically ours are in the lowest amount, but we both have a health one as well as a money one, so we should get four lots of £37 back.

It was reallly easy to fill in, so worth it

By coincidence, this afternoon our neighbour has asked me to 'certificate' the EPOA she & her daughter are arranging.

As she said she's had the forms from early last year, I'll suggest she checks that the fee, as printed, is what she now has to pay.

That's great, but just one small point - it only applies to England and Wales.

It seems the government charged too much for fees between April 2013 and March 2017. So anyone who has taken one out can get a partial refund. It is between £37 and £57 depending on the date.
You only need to claim once even if you have more than one. They will search for all of them in the persons name
It was extremely easy to do and the money is paid into the donors bank account, so obviously the person still has to be alive.
