Searching for old threads

Please tell me how to limit the number of results, if I use the search bar to find old threads.

I try to use the most obscure word that it will contain, but I still get many (sometimes about 10 ) identical copies of the same threads.

Why?
Is it me.... or just a quirk of the site.?

That type of search has never been good on GR.

I've had the same annoying/useless results.

It's the site Gwyn., it just gives out repeats of the same thread.

Since the 'advanced search' stopped working several years ago it is very difficult to find relevant ( recent!) threads using one word. If it's not one I posted on myself I mostly use google search putting in 'genesreunited' and then the names/words or phrases I am looking for. It's really the only way to find out if someone has posted a previous query on FA board etc.

If you added to the thread you could look at the threads you added to.

Or use the advance search.

Advanced search doesn't work Sue, it hasn't for about 3 years, and GR won't fix it.

Thanks for trying to help.

The advanced search would be so much easier......if it worked.

I've been on this site too long. ...Lol
I've got 617 pages of threads I've added to, so that's not an easy option.

There seems to be no logic either regarding the order in which search results are displayed, so one can't jump a few pages to get to the correct year.
