Yes, I have the same problem. I can get records for my Gran's father's family, who were English speaking and Parish Church, but all the Welsh Speaking Chapel goers are more difficult to get records for.

That sounds very interesting too Von.

Part of my Pembrokeshire history involved the Codd / Ormond family from Pembrokeshire.

Elizabeth Codd (my family) - her husband and children became Mormons in the 1850s.

She was abandoned by her husband John Ormond, who abducted most of their children and emigrated to Utah, U.S.A. to join the Mormon Church Community.

He waited until she went with one of the sons to market and her older married daughters helped him. The sad thing was many of the children died on route, including the 3 year old little girl!

Von

Von Report 4 Mar 2018 19:12

The problem with my Welsh rellies is they were non conformist and there aren't many of those records online :-S

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 4 Mar 2018 19:12

I find it depends on what areas you a looking at :-) My Village is in Derbyshire and Ancestry have the best records for Derbyshire. However, it's on the boarder of Staffordshire and Leicestershire and FMP have the best records for these two Counties :-D :-D

JemimaFawr Report 4 Mar 2018 19:10

I can REALLY see a book out of all of that Belle.

You should approach the project with a view to publishing it, I think! :-)

Mersey

Mersey Report 4 Mar 2018 19:10

It is such a sad story Belle, but amazing on how you can follow
the story until his death.....was it in the newspapers.....?? :-D :-D

I did a bit with a lady in the USA as her relatives and some of mine had gone together.
We were looking for the connections but realised they were neighbours :-D

I want to get back to organising my files better before too long.
I may take out a sub with FMP. It doesn't look like a £1 offer will be forthcoming.

I downgraded my GR sub from Platinum/Parish to Standard, but I do miss it at times.
But I think FMP have the best records now.
But GR Have the best Pembrokeshire records.
