If you like a challenge, have a look at the Gough Map.

It has it's own site.

Well pre-Mercator, it has an East-West projection.

You still will need to get your eye in.

When researching my tree I like to find out what my ancient rellies got up to, with whom when and where. Access to old maps makes this a whole lot easier cos modern maps tend to hide the logic of the past.
