Apple tree shedding leaves like autumn has come.

Our hazel is dropping nuts with a vengeance but is still full of green leaves, the clematis, passionflower and jasmine are going mad rampaging everywhere. Our lawn is a bit scrappy but recovering. I think it might be because the water table is high hereabouts. The rape seed has been harvested from the field next the garden, and ploughed over once. There have been lots of plannning discussions about housing etc which everone's fought against, due to the water table and rain having less surface to go, now there's a move to build a road across it in readiness. It's the place the Red Arrows circle over to prepare for landing at the airport as well as other aircraft, as we are not far from the airport.

Hopefully all the trees will recover and do well next year.

Caroline's correct ................. the hot dry summer is affecting trees all around the world.

You'll just have to hope that the fall and winter rains will revive .......... the rains should, but I think you will see some losses next year.

The trees are in distress due to the hot dry summer.

The horse chestnuts here are turning brown. My apple trees are still ok, but maybe we've had more rain here than further south. One tree is having a good year, but not the other.

I don't have an apple tree, but noticed a horse chestnut locally which had all the leaves turning brown and dry, with conkers still forming.

Quite likely the unusual weather conditions this year are responsible.

Not leaves but my conference pear tree is dropping fruit every day

Most of it very small compared to the usual size they gets too .and they aren't ripe enough to eat

I have looked on line and it looks as though it is the result of a wet winter followed by a long hot dry summer but our apple tree is fast losing leaves, even though the fruit is not ready to pick And there are not many apples thin year. It is an old tree and has or seems to have alternate good and bad years, last year was good.

Is anyone else's apple tree already losing its leaves.

It is a nuisance more than anything as it is a mess on the lawn.
