Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 6 Sep 2018 22:12

That was the year I went to Sussex to work in a holiday camp as a waitress, giving up a very good job as a Receptionist/Telephonist in Norwich, to my mother's annoyance.
I don't know if the lads earned more than I did at the camp, probably not.

The thing that made me laugh was the office girl trying to use the typewriter and thinking the adding machine was a phone lol

Dear Sharron and LaGooner

Hello

I meant to record this to watch later. Looks really interesting.
Got completely distracted by chaos and housework!

Yes, we are all really technologically advanced in our house...still using VHS tapes!

I hope it is available on BBC I player.

Take gentle care, ladies
Very best wishes

I think you are right Sharron. It was the same in the offices I worked in too . I was an office junior at London Transport and the male junior was paid more and thought more of than I was.

At least it was out in the open then.

I think inequality is still alive and well but it is now hiding behind political correctness.

I worked for Whitefriars glass and definitely some were more equal than others.

One factory I was working with almost all men and I made very sure not ever to produce quite as much as they did.

I am and I too had forgotten what we accepted.

Anybody else watching it?

1968, that was the time I started working in factories and I am horrified to see how much we accepted as normal, however unfair it was.
