Doesn't your private health include prescriptions for pain relief which would not be Nurofen/.

Here you are Caroline,fully explained.

Vogons are slug-like but vaguely humanoid, are bulkier than humans, and have green skin. Vogons are described as "one of the most unpleasant races in the galaxy,

Rollo you don't say what your age is as your illness could be anything age related.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Jan 2019 15:27

Bob, hope you are able to get the appropriate treatment without too long a wait.

Rollo, please think seriously about reducing your work load. You’ve said before about ‘not being able to afford’ to give up work, but you’ll have to sometime. Simple reductions in expenditure can add up. Short stemmed roses instead of long stems, substituting a lower quality wine at a dinner party after the first couple of glasses of an expensive one. For that matter, could you bring back sufficient from France if it’s less expensive? Would it be cheaper to pay per visit to your squash club, rather than have an annual membership? Could your partner ‘sign you in’ ? Stop being so, as you’ve previously mentioned, generous to friends & extended family!

You may not be ‘Wealthy’ when compared to your colleagues & social circle but
there’s no point in being the wealthiest (or comfortabley off) corpse in the graveyard!

I thought paracetomol affected the kidneys, so Ibrofen too?

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 30 Jan 2019 14:39

yes Ann, it turns out that I had been taking ibuprofen, for arthritis,,and suspicion was that, that had contributed to my kidney failure....however it was decided that the amount I had been taking wasn't to blame, after all.....

AnninGlos Report 30 Jan 2019 14:26

Just to say, if this thread disappears I will have deleted it because it got out of hand. so are you allowed to take nurofen at all Rollo, you say not all day. I believe there are concerns about ibrofen at the moment (can't remember exactly what) so that may be the reason. Paracetamol do nothing for back ache or leg ache unfortunately.

Strange that it is so difficult to get information on our own bodies from the medical profession. Hope the scans and tests can find a cause and hopefully a cure Rollo. sometimes just knowing what causes a problem helps us to feel better. It may be that by not taking time off and resting you will prolong the problem.

no Sharron , but I suspect that many of the posters on here also have problems... medical or otherwise which might influence the tone of their responses to various comments ...

"fellow Vogons".....nope all alien to me...

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 30 Jan 2019 13:47

I did not say that I was wealthy.
I said that I was fortunate enough not to worry overmuch about budget for what I want to eat. I am not "wealthy" I only wish I was.

I am truly fed up with posts from MW and fellow Vogons which add no useful, interesting pr entertaining information but satisfy her crusade against pretty well anybody she might line up with her old bosses at Hampshire CC.

I just don't find her posts worth the time of day. If she left my stuff alone ti wouldn't matter but it seems to be an itch she cannot stop scratching no matter what the topic.

I will have more tests and scans in the coming days. I have not managed to get much information except that I am ill, should not take Nurofen all day long and should take a month off. Not being wealthy I cannot afford that.

Thanks for all the fish

a fortnight ago after another routine blood test, recieved a email saying make another appointment in 4 weeks time....worrying times...

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Jan 2019 11:28

Come on, fairs fair.

Rollo has had a previous medical emergency + shared one which, although not an emergency, could have been serious. He may well have thought something similar was brewing. In any event, his wife may have pressured him into seeking a medical opinion.

The Doctor may well have been grumpy for having his evening interrupted. On the other hand, its money in his Bank via the health insurance company.

The conversation probably went along the lines of....it could be (vitamin deficiency). Alter your diet until the blood test results are back.

Sharron

Sharron Report 30 Jan 2019 11:06

Didn't the thread start by saying the doctor had left and was not very happy.

He wouldn't be if he had been called out on a Saturday evening for something that just required a blood test.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 30 Jan 2019 10:47

And no he has not said what his illness is. I doubt he will now.

Well,it wasn't ,heart,liver or kidneys.or anything vicious.that would be a threat to life.

just to be told at 8pm on a Saturday night.

""""You have a Iron deficiency.""""

but blood tests are needed.

Wonder who RRd the two posts. Very strange.

maggiewinchester Report 29 Jan 2019 22:16

..but he was still 'wealthy enough not to have to eat offal', despite it having a high B12 content (apart, of course, from calves liver).

You have to ask yourself: Why did he delete the thread if I was the 'bad guy'?
Surely, 'Showing me in all my (alleged) colours' would have been a good thing for him., because I'm apparently, so nasty?

....or perhaps his bull was exposed.

I have an intrinsic dislike of being patronized.
Anyone who questions whether I've actually 'really' read a book, can understand politics, has had an education (because - yes, I live in a council house) or at one point, even know the layout of the place I've lived in for 25 years, has serious problems with me about their presumptions.
Anyone who 'dictates' to others about internet security, when theirs is so lax, has a problem - their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
Anyone who thinks 'I can pretend I have more money than you - so I can pretend I am better than you' - I hold in contempt.
Sorry, that's just the way it is.
Some pretend to be something they aren't - some of us are just what we are.
Some delete the threads where they insult others' - one has to ask why?

Vera - this isn't you! :-D :-D :-D

Maggie before I delete this I just want to say that within the thread I did see Rollo comment on the help he had got.

And no he has not said what his illness is. I doubt he will now.

Vera no worries I know how you feel.
